  • Not heard that but have heard of cider/lager shot of black as a diesel.

Have had red wine and coke called a poor man's Cuba libre

  • Seen that in bottles in France too.

As for the amaretto thing, nope never heard of that...what is Dr pepper supposed to be?

    @owl posh castaway

  • Amaretto and Cranberry Juice has a vague Dr Pepper flavour to it.
Works well, but no need to dilute Amaretto IMO.

  • My partner is partial to a red wine and coke. She makes sure to let people know that it is an actual drink from Europe and therefore classy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calimocho

  • Maybe the really cheap Iceland own brand amaretto...

@ric_a5 you have just brought back a memory from a Spanish trip. Really really cheap red wine that wasn't drinkable with out cola. Thank you for the happy memory. Also I will find away to consume cheap alcohol and not throw it away, but that tested me.

  • Yeah, that's what it is in France. They actually have little green bottles called Panache

  • Of course. Mostly seems to be a German thing as far as I've seen.

I'm sure I saw bottled versions of it. They also like orange and cola which I presume has also been added to lager at some point.

Mezzo Mix and Spezi are two I remember drinking, along with the red/green syrups you can get added to beer in many bars.

  • Lager, Cider and Blackcurrant

    That's a snakebite.

  • That is very nice. But probs close to £10 a can at my local crafty joint :D

  • I drink a lot of shandies because I'm normally rocking up to the pub a thirsty mess so I'll smash a couple of those because they only have diet coke shit on the gun. The shandies at my local just look like lager, maybe a bit lighter. The stuff in Spain with the cloudy lemonade (which you can buy lots of pre-made versions of btw) is kind of hazier, creamier looking lager - could easily be mistaken for a hazy IPA.

  • The Wolfie:

A snake bite variant in my old local was called “the Wolfie” named after a kid called Wolfie who invented it.

It was diamond white and gold label barley wine.

We once walked into a the unusually empty pub with Wolfie stood amongst a pile of broken barstools

The next day there was a sign behind the bar which read:

“WOLFIE IS NOT ALLOWED MORE THAN 4 WOLFIES”

  • diamond white

I'd forgotten this existed. Around our way Snakebite (and black) were renamed 'Diamond Snakebite (and black)' when this stuff was involved.

  • I am currently obsessed and recently ordered a crate, paid £3.50 a can I think.

  • Alfonse you invented a shandy thread congrats.

  • My local is spendy but I'm too lazy to go direct normally. I tend to drink different stuff all the time unless there's nothing new or something really banging on.

This was the last VC we tried and to give you an idea of prices...

  • Calimocho is not classy
It’s what you do if you absolutely need to projectile vomit black bile while singing a sentimental song.

  • That is wild! My local pub (Chandos in SE23) has cloudy lemonade on tap at less than £6 a pint.

  • @Squaredisk

    It’s like Ai…a Pandora’s box of innovation

  • Merlot and Orangina. Lush.

  • I used to put a small Jamesons in a Guinness.
Gave it a barrel aged vibe.

(I got the Jamesons for cheaps in Tesco but quickly found out, neat, it wasn't for me)

  • For a very brief minute aged 14/15 the poison of choice was Pepsi and (presumably stolen off a parent) port.
Seemed to be good at the time

  • Kalimotxo. I occasionally drink the alcohol, caffeine and sugar free version, nowhere near as much fun as the real thing but that's life.

Only teenagers drink it in Spain. There are exceptions, like my old drinking buddies, Los Chicos.

  • Gin and Bundaberg passionfruit fizzy drink. i had one last week when I ran out of tonic.
I don't think it's going to make the first 11, but it'll be on the bench.

  • Queen of the suburbs, innit :)
