Greek national service generally avoided by the Greek students I knew a long time ago.
The fear of getting pulled as you travelled back was real. Fear of not doing something boring and being put in Cyprus. -

Anyway, national service. Yes. Everyone should do it.

That's true, yes. It was already winding down then. There was a general feeling that there was little need for an army any more. As I said, I knew lots of people who got out of it before those last years, and many regretted that later.
(NS isn't a good abbreviation to use in a German context.)

Will be amazing if everyone chooses the litter picking option.

I doubt there are many on here who understand Kölsch (Cologne dialect), but this is a number about trying to conscientiously object in the 1970s, when people would be interviewed and confronted with scenarios in which they would have to defend themselves, in an attempt to undermine their advocacy of pacifism. This ridicules it.

Not me, I work in logistics and it’s a nightmare now. Some businesses I work with have stopped sending to the Eu. Other have moved there.

Saw Mel Stride doing the morning and lunchtime media rounds and he was doing an amazing job of "not wanting to talk about ex-PMs like Boris and Liz" but very much wanting to talk about Jeremy Corbyn
Also had the worst shaving cut I've ever seen, looked like it needed stitches.

Wasn't the Chief Constable a bit Tory?

Political mud slinging isn’t a crime. Much like taking coke in the HoP and shagging other people wives while yours has cancer etc etc

Rishi contradicted some evidence given to the High Court while blethering about the Rwanda scheme so the court has asked for some clarification

So the Angela Rayner wrongdoing investigation turns out to be a complete and utter waste of time. For GMP to conclude that capital gains tax fraud is beyond it's remit after they've had 12 officers working on it for what, two months, absolutely beggars belief.
It was obvious to anyone with more than two brain cells that the entire affair was a politically motivated attempt by the Tories to discredit Rayner from the off. The GMP Chief Constable should be sacked for his role in this, as it's obvious that it was his intervention that led to the investigation in the first place.

Agreed, terrible, comes across as the worst kind of politician, evasive, smug and condescending
You would of expected having a solid answer on Dianne Abbott this morning would of been heavily prepared

Fucking hell I hate that little POS
I wasn't really thinking about British as my parents would have been too young to really know any British serving conscripts. Whereas 25,600 French died in the Algerian war and 8,289 Portuguese in the African conflicts.
I haven't looked at the stats for what % were conscripts. But I know my mum for eg had Portuguese friends who'd left to escape conscription.
