  • not stand for re-election?

Too late for that now. His name will be on the ballot paper.

  • I've heard a rumor that Sunak is going to launch the manifesto through the medium of interpretive dance on Princess Diana's grave, such is his desire to have to resign.

  • An interesting article undermined by their inability to acknowledge the £2000 attack was a lie

  • Conventionally, the headline would have been written by a sub-editor, usually without any input from the writer. With a 'celebrity' columnist, who knows.

It's a lovely little dog-whistle in any case.

(ETA - given that 'schnorrer' is repeated throughout the article, I don't think blaming the sub will wash)

  • That private jet will be on standby, that’s for sure

  • Apparently the Tories are going to publish the calculations tomorrow at 8am

  • Given the chaos and poor decision making from No. 10, think it’s logical to see this for what it is, rather than making out it’s some calculated ruse.

For a start, nominations and withdrawals for being a candidate for election closed on Thursday.

  • Something something malice something something stupidity

  • Agreed.

Despite all the supporting evidence, I think people keep forgetting that Sunak isn't good at politics.

Even from day 1, he had the opportunity to be the change candidate. But instead of using the calamity of Johnson and Truss to his advantage, he squandered it and let people like Braverman gane traction.

Oh and where is Braverman now? The ruler of all things right in the party, that pivotal alley who you wouldn't be able to survive without? Exactly.

The guy has limited political instincts, and close to zero political skill. Compare and contrast the actual leader of a G5 country and a gifter who's never been elected as an MP.

  • Oh and where is Braverman now

Apparently she was campaigning in Fareham with Lord Frost yesterday, she’ll hate having to do that.

  • Utterly depressing

  • I'm not sure that Vox Pops don't just give you what you want to find. Not to cast aspersions but you could choose a few juicy posts from our dear own forum which would make us seem less than alluring.
Altrincham and Sale was Graham Brady's constituency, the leader of the 1922 committee. It's going to Labour. Let's just enjoy what we can before Starmer inherits the biggest pile of shit in history and the new Tory leader, Priti Patel, keeps the seat warm until Farage takes over the party.

  • Times:

  • I think that last sentence is key for the future prospects of the Tory party. The electorate is more liberal and more committed to climate change than they think, and as long as they alienate them, they have no route back to power.

Installing Farage as leader won't change that, he's very unpopular with exactly that kind of voter.

  • As if you needed anymore reasons to hate mogg

  • I'm sure I read the Tories are loosing voters at a rate of 25k pa to death.

  • I thought it was 25k per month. I read it somewhere too, but can't remember where. I think it was in one of John Oxley's blogs.

    It was, in here:

    https://www.joxleywrites.jmoxley.co.uk/p/least-worst-options

  • And luckily at the next couple of General Elections, the Labour Party can campaign to those who are about to gain the vote that the Tories will introduce 'National Service' should they be elected.

  • thought it was 25k per month

This explains the early election call!

  • That was it!

Fuck. That's not good for a party is it?

  • Good to see Rees-Mogg acknowledge that the Tory Party is the natural home for an openly racist grifter

  • Andrea Jenkins and 3 other Tory candidates have accepted a donation from Lawrence Fox’s reclaim party for signing up to a number of there aims.

  • Some are even looking to persuade Boris Johnson to return to Westminster in a by-election to “save the party”. One Tory special adviser said: “He’s potentially the only person who could stop Farage if it comes to it.”
