  • Here we are so far. (Seatpost and stem are placeholders)
Didn't really had time to do more. I should have a few days off later in the week, I hope to make progress.

  • Looks great already

  • Whole lot ideally.

@Hulsroy thatd be great, will pop you a DM.

  • Spent a bit of time on the bike today, mainly getting fenders mounted and adjusted.
Had to do quite a bit of back-and-forth, as to see how to space them.

  • First try wasn't great at all, front fender blocked by the front rack and awful fender line.

  • Waaaay to close to the tire.

  • Rear one was less of a pain, once I successully eyeballed the hole for the monostay and put the correct amount of spacers.
The ugly plastic spacers are all I got on hand right now, but they will be replaced.
I was thinking brass spacers like those attached.

  • High-precision measurements on the front one too.

  • And boom. Acceptable fender line+ super strong attachment ; No wobbling or rattling whatsoever.
Notice the neatly tucked front light :-)

  • Next step, more holes in the rear fender, in order to install the Son rear light. They provide a very welcome drawing on where to drill.
However, I didn't have anything to mesure 23 to 25 degrees... So I went highly scientific, counting spokes. 24H wheel = one spoke every 15°. So one-and-a-half-spoke from vertical was my measurement.

  • I really hope this series of posts is concluded with a full side-on shot.

  • In the end, it could have been a bit lower on the fender, but I can live with that.
    (Hopefully @Hulsroy too)

  • Looks fine! Glad it's all working out

  • I said I’d replace these too, a year or so ago. Turns out they’ll….do?

  • Those beautiful wavy genders don't look like they'd be easier to install than straight ones!

  • Satisfying shiny combo with frame/rim/fender!
Seems to be a nice wheelset?

  • Getting a centre punch and then a drill through them was interesting for sure! It’s actually sheared at the rear mudguard bridge, but luckily a combination of a metal reinforcement plate, plastic spacer and the rubber washer have saved it.

  • Indeed it does. Awful photo, but here we are.
If we're being picky, the front fender appears to be closer to the tire than the rear.
But front and rear tires are different at the moment, the rear one is a bit less bulbous.

  • I built the wheels last year in an effort to shed some weight.
These are LB rims laced to a DT 350 at the rear and a Son Dynamo at the front.
24 CX-Ray front spokes and CX-Sprint at the rear.
    Less than 1500g total :)

  • Ok that looks very hot!
I already have the same hub combo. Carbon grey and round profile is just so good with silver spokes.

  • This is gonna be wild!

I've been thinking of getting some VO wavey guards for my genesis, but after seeing you try to fit these. I may pass and just stay wet 😂

  • Those big tyres and flush mudguards

  • Milestone of the day: installed the front brake - Trp lever, Magura MT4 caliper .
Works really well on the stand ; I haven't had time to test it on the road yet, but I'm confident.

Some will ask why. Because I can 😎
More seriously, I feel that the flatmount version of hylex calipers are a bit lacking. Not beautiful, not overly impressive in terms of braking power. Also : very small pads.

Magura on the other hand uses the same pads that on all their 2-pistons brakes. Much bigger pads, powerful and long-lasting. Since the bike is to be used in challenging conditions - steep, technical descents, gravel, etc. while loaded, I feel like it's the right choice.

(not sure about the fluoro ring though - will probably us a silver one or none at all)
