Way more expensive and fewer races (or so I'm told). Although, I'd be very happy to be corrected by someone who uses it?

Up to his usual tricks today. Good to see Jens Adams stick the elbow in.
Great last lap

Made it over to Antwerp at the weekend for some beers and to catch the Superprestige at Boom.
My first experience attending a proper big cross race and wow. Absolutely brilliant weekend all around, capped off with a strong ride from Cameron Mason who politely seemed to appreciate us chanting his name to the tune of 2Unlimited's 'No Limit'....

It's so much fun. Everyone just gets hammered!
-

Who is going to get the big win first?
Cam Mason or Jens Adams?
-
• #32
Think Cam needs to sharpen his elbows a bit. Seems to get shuffled back way too easily at the start/going into corners.

Highlight race of the year today.
I'm going to say Mason to win. (Assuming mvdp) isn't there.
-
• #34
MVDP isn't there. Pidcock is though.
-
• #35
Pidcock and Cam 1-2? That’d surely be a first in British cross

• #36
I'm going to be bold and say it will the other way round.

Am I too late to change my prediction?

I think predicting a Cameron Mason win when any of the big three is racing is extremely optimistic, but that applies to pretty much everyone else in the field.
He's made an amazing start to his pro career but he needs to improve his starts, which has been raised before, but I also think he lacks endurance so is unable to raise his pace in the final lap when the front group are fighting it out for the win. That's no surprise, he's only 23 and this is his first full season, and it gives him something to work on next spring/summer.

The Our Tom love in on GCN is unbelievable. You’d think no one else was racing at Namur

are we pro-spit or anti-spit?
-
• #41
Wouldn't say I was 'pro' spit. But having been to races, the fans can be arseholes if they don't like you. If he was getting abuse from the warm up laps to the last lap, I'm surprised he didn't do a sven and go after the fuckers. I would have.

I always assumed this was why they all had quite burly mechanics, but I’ve a lot of time for the lad who stopped and waded into the crowd!

Honorable mention for Bart Wellens' kick.

Excellent move, clearly a cantona fan.

Just off to the track to watch New Years Day Madison …. wonder if that means there’ll be some tag team aggro … !

Can someone make sense of the new UCI rules to me. Have they just banned the top 20 riders in the world from riding anything other than world cups?
-
• #47
I think they've just banned other events from being ran a day or two either side of world cup events due to low turn out of elite riders at WC races
-
• #48
It seems like if they contracted the top riders to world cups and had bonuses or increased prize money for doing the full series they’d get a better turn out? It was a bit rubbish this year so at least they’re trying
-

New World Cup rules are scandalous. Over reach to a massive degree by the UCI, shocking I know. The other events should be embraced and celebrated seems to be the way in pro sports though “make us money with no real benefit to you or we fine you”
Also Eli’s bike is too small which is why I hate him.

Pretty much this, he has the skills and speed just needs a better start and a couple more years to build the bigger engine.
The problem is Pidcock, WVA and MVDP were outliers who makes everyone feel you should be at your peak from 19 years old and never drop it ever.
Maybe that’s the issue as I also hate faf de clerk even when he played for and solo carried my much loved sale sharks. I also don’t really like my kids who are short.
I’m I sizeist?
