  • All the tall models have the same top tube length just longer seat tubes and head tubes. The longer head tube makes the listed reach shorter for the same top tube. Meant for people with longer legs and shorter bodies. The regular versions look a little more classic as they have a flatter top tube

  • cheers! finger twitching over the buy button..

  • Well not to encourage you, but they're great bikes. Only regret is buying one new a month before those discounted ones appeared

  • that sounds pretty perfect, I'm a tall chap at about 6'4'' but i do like a short snappy bike, i shall investigate

  • very much apreciate the advise fellas thanks so much

  • whats the opinion on the kepler re the one thats just poped up in the classifieds, would need some tweeking but its a steal and a half

  • Tall version of the Faran have the same length seat tube, but 3cm taller headtube, so the stack is greater but reach only slightly less. It’s the same as 3cm of spacers. I have a T and I like it

It’s a great bike. Tonne of clearance - pictures in the design notes, nicely made, the top tube I really like, I think the uni crown fork is well done, and now that they have switched to button head screws like I did, the multitude of mounts isn’t so bad. I wish the current colours were available when I got mine, the moss green is so much nicer than my green

If you want a carbon fork down the line the options are limited.

  • thats a beaty, i'll have a poke around. Thanks man super helpfull

  • I think the Kona Rove can be set up nicely and look pretty OK. As a complete bike option it hits a decent pricepoint and is quite capable. Here's mine from when it actually looked pretty OK.

But, many bikes can be set up to look really nice. Conversely, the same bike can be put together differently and be kinda horrendous. Here's an experimental era in my Rove's life.

  • Kona Roves are versatile and have a lot of potential for a nice build. Here is my favourite Kona Rove (R.I.P. :( ) by the forums very own @lt

  • good ploddy bike, may it rip in peace

  • that does look pretty shweeet, I've got a paddy wagon which i love dearly. Thanks for the insight man

  • What size are you? Scoble’s Faran is on eBay

  • That the green 54t one? Putting Farans on eBay alert was a silly thing for me to do

  • Ha, no, his is 56T, but I saw that 54T moss green one a moment ago…

  • Saw one of these earlier on in town at some traffic light - was impressed, looks decent (although the cable routing I saw on the one today was shocking, I assume that was build fuck up not inevitable!)

  • You probably won't think it's handsome enough, and you're probably right, but noticed the other day that a current Kaffenback frameset is something like £800, but they're doing a full build for £750, which makes it comparatively a bargain!
