“Friends don’t let friends ride gravel kings” is an oft repeated phrase from one of the elders of the cross scene.
Vittoria Terreno dry I think is the thing they say.If it’s for commuting I have no real input here.
I’ve used these in 4 season lanes/a bit of dry off road in the summer. They’ve been great tubeless

I don’t know whether they’d hold up on a commute with glass etc.

Brakes, much to @snottyotter 's chagrin, will be Dia Compe DC980
Dead to me.

Vittoria Terreno dry
Big fan of my 40c ones.
-
• #30
Doesn't look like they do them in 35 or 38c anyway :-P
Let me build my silly little bike for my silly commute! What is freedom, if not to be allowed to make silly little decisions on my silly little midlife-crisis poseur wagon? -
• #31
OK OK talk to me. I am to be harangued for all these misjudgements?!
-
• #32
The 40c are labeled 38c which is what put me off buying them before, but they're deffo 40c IRL.
-
• #33
I've seen skinnier though, maybe the 32/33 come up quite big too.
-
• #34
But are they a good choice for a road commute?
-
• #35
I know not silver but 6770 are ultimate SS/fixie levers
-
• #36
They do 33 and 35, I think I saw the 35 on a bike and they looked big so ordered the 38 and was happy with them being bigger.
-
• #37
That's pretty much all they do for me.
-
• #38
They're slightly heavier and slower than the very light and fast maxxis I had on before them, but better in every other way.

I have Paul's touring cantis in silver for sale if you fancy them
EDIT- they are black not silver

Replied in the wanted thread as well. I don’t want to disrespect you with a lowball. I’d basically be asking for something akin to charity. I’ve adjust my expectations to be happy with the dia compes lol.

Worth obviously bearing in mind is that any shifters will work single speed, so you can look for posh levers that are broken for shifting but great for breaking - hello old dura ace/super record shifters off ebay.
That said! I will have a set of the nice TRP silver levers going spare next week. Ive been really impressed with the TRPs as they have a strong return spring in them which makes for a very satisfying, snappy lever action- a feature you wouldn't even get on normal posh road levers as it would make them too heavy I imagine.

Get Panaracer Paselas rather than Gravel Kings. The latter are shit.
-
• #43
Of course the obvious tyre choice here is 38c Vittoria hyper voyager. But they don’t make them anymore.
-
• #44
HE IS HERE.
HE HAS SPOKEN. -
• #45
Oh for sure. How do you find the TRP levers feel in the hand compared to a modern shifter? That’s my main thing. I’ve found the angle and shape of dedicated levers is often much less comfortable compared to shifters.
-
• #46
Can they be run tubeless? Why are they so superior?
-
• #47
Personally, I've had fuck all problems with GK and run the SS version on my 'road' bike . I truly like them.
-
• #48
All my mates love them lol, am genuinely surprised at the ire, but I am so far behind the curve it still appears straight.
-
• #49
If you can’t have everyone arguing about tyre choice on someone else’s bike-is it even a current project?

I love a long indulgent thread. Also ‘do it once do it right’ was a nice LOL
can’t believe you haven’t covered bottle cages?
Swinnerton claims to have them in grey in stock. But £66...
