Had a bit of a late one doing some cleaning/prep. First time I ever serviced Chris King headset - YouTube video said to use compressed air after flushing with degreaser, but I didn’t have so decided the hair dryer would do.

expect I will end up having some bosses moved/removed/filled at some point
How come? Seems like a lot of cost/hassle to make it less versatile.
What about getting some stainless grub screws and blue lock tighting them in? Should be less noticeable than the silver screws. I'm sure you could find a close nail polish to paint over the grub screws. That way with a bit of effort you can always reverse it.

Probably because once I get to ‘final build’ I’ll know where I want stuff and these won’t be in the exact right places. That’s some time off anyway.
In the meantime, headset has been lobbed in:

Now looking a bit more like a bicycle:
Handlebar position was a guesstimate and needs to drop a few cm. Small oversight on seatpost also - this is still 2cm lower than required position and only have 1cm inside the seat tube so will need to get something ordered.
46t front and 11-28 rear as that’s what I had in the ‘bin’ but suspect that will need some changes also.

ElitaOne carbon inline post off of Aliexpress is decent for £27 posted, arrived in a week and comes in 27.2 x 400 so should be long enough

Thanks, will check out. Need to double check measurement but think I need 450mm. Thomson covert dropper does come in this size though (convenient…) but just need something so I can ride it at the moment.

For stuff like this that IMO could have been a lot better designed:
Brake cable/hose goes under the BB but gear cable goes over. Just send them both the same way.
2x dt guides with large spacing is stupid. There is gonna be loads of cable slap at HT so will probably resort to BMX style zip tie up top. Needs 3x guides or additional guides on/near HT + BB
The removable guides are a PITA to route cables through and ‘clamp’ them. Free movement is better in case of crash.
1 x internal route only. Route all internal or don’t bother apart from the entry into ST for dropper.
Ok, 3+4 get you a very clean SS build but I reckon that is an extremely small percentage of Neutrino builds.

Yeah I think so too but it’s what I had to hand but also a middle ring so definitely gonna need swapping. Need to get on Sheldon’s calculator.

First ride unfortunately half finished - rounded the torx bolts attaching front caliper to the adapter from my old cargo bike so have had to cycle to my mums to use her partners drill press. That means failure on finish this weekend so here’s an NDS:

Looks fun! I think I'd have gone for less spacers and higher rise BMX bars, but that's because I just want a BMX.

S&M husky’s potentially at some point in future. Need to decide that I’ll never want drops on it first though - if I trim steerer to current position that’s a possibility but any lower then limited to high rise only.

Brake caliper has been released from its old adapter so I can finish build and make it less of a death trap one evening next week.

Another minor annoyance with the braze ons - my foot is occasionally catching the rack mount (I have put a very narrow BB in it to get correct chain line though). Hopefully grub screw/blanking bolt will sort but fairly certain that’s going to be useless to me as an actual mount.

I was hoping to ‘finish’ it this weekend but ran into some problems:
410mm Thomson still 1 cm off my saddle height at min. insertion.
Accidentally blew an o-ring for the banjo into the ether (aka. the carpet) with disc brake cleaner.
Will order some bits and try again next weekend.

what rims did you end up going with? how are they?

Went with these ones as I already had the 36h hubs:

They seem OK but I’m still waiting on some small parts to arrive to finish building.

Sorry its been a problematic build. It's always draining and a bit disheartening when that happens.
🤞 it's up from here on in.
