  • I bought this frame off @greytyke over a year ago and to my shame it just sat gathering dust waiting for 'next week' which never came.

Anyway I've just moved house and have more room to get on with things so here we go. I believe the frame was new old stock from when the Tokyo Fixed shop closed down. It came with a Stronglight headset which was one less thing to think about. Seat tube is a 61cm. in the rather fetching sliver/black and pink.

I don't thinkt he tubing is anything fancy (4130?) whereas the S1's were. The picture is from the original sale thread...

  • In the honeymon period I acquired some Token hubs and Velocity rims from @¡apesta! and built them quite quickly. I sstill have one to finish truing and dishing which I'll hopefully do when I've found where I packed my spoke keys... (picture to follow)

  • Shortly after that a couple of pairs of nitto 125 bars came my way from @GroggyJoe and that was about as far as I got until I went to a bike jumble last weekend at the Derby Arena.

There I acquired a 3 t stem, primato crank and bb and a good book…

  • Bars/stem and cranks are now fitted so let’s see how much more progress we can make over Easter weekend…

  • It's a very good book.

  • Looking good so far 👌

  • I’m saving it for my holidays

  • One piece of good news today is that during unpacking my spoke keys turned up which means I’ll be able to finish off the token/ velocity wheelset

  • Very nice, do miss a good track/fixed CP.

Just gonna say it, this would look way better with silver Sugino 75's.

  • Ain’t that the truth. I tried to secure some silver 75’s a couple of times on the forum last year but wasn’t fast enough. They are justifiably popular.

The guy I bought the Miche off had a set of cranks for £150 but compared to the Miche chainset with bb in very good nick for £60 it was a no brainer.

I’ll keep an eye out for some.

  • Might be worth buying new ones, great crankset that last forever

  • Wheels dug out and I’ve just swapped the nipples from 12 to 14mm while I watch Paris-Roubaix

  • I’ll keep looking out Joe but I can’t justify the cost atm.

  • Like the silver style a lot so far.

  • Agreed. I do all my wheel building with stainless finish spikes and was looking for silver cranks. I might look to see if I can polish the black finish off the chainring

  • Front wheel still needs tensioning but I’ve offered them up to the frame to see how they look. The rims go well with the frame. I’ll be rocking a 1980’s Ford driving sales rep look!

  • Small update.

I intend to want to be able to run SS on the flip flop hub so a rear brake is a must.
Unfortunately the rear brake is slightly longer than a standard Shimano caliper so my spare 105 rear wasn’t quite long enough.
A quick internet search got me a couple of Tektro539’s from Planet X.
However, the drop on the front Tektro is now too much…

  • To max the postage I also bought some bar tape. I thought I was buying pink on black but it turned out to be black on pink.

    Not my best day’s shopping

  • To rescue the front brake situation I thought I’d try and remove the short rear fixing bolt and replace it with a longer one. Has anyone done this? Am I missing something and am I up for a Darwin Award with this thought?

  • Rear brake I’m looking to convert…

  • There’s different length bolts, probably to fit carbon forks, so they’re often to long for steel frames

  • I'll take the caliper down the LBS to see if they have a front fork bolt for it

  • Don't bother polishing the chainring imo.
I like a nice mix of black and silver parts to contrast each other.

  • You might be right @MisterMikkel. It's now on the back burner for a few weeks as I'm away in France. I'll be giving the brocantes a good scouring for anything interesting.
