I also hope this does well.
First because I'm a big fan of anyone who jumps at running a company that aims to scale, it's a huge and scary proposition and a massive sacrifice and venturing into the risky unknown.
Second because it's a forum thing, I love it when people on here make things happen — especially when someone's been a core part of the community for so long and there at so many events and rides over the longest time.
But third, because hey I'm getting older and thumping music on long drives is less my thing — the idea of consuming a book on a roundtrip drive to Scotland, or chipping away listening to 20-40m of a book over a lunch break, well that appeals to me. But I tried Audible and disliked their subscription model, the catalogue being so vast meant it was hard to find the good, if you didn't want to subscribe the prices were 3-4x the book price, and of course I really didn't want to give money to Amazon or further lining the pocket of Bezos.
So here's jonny delivering a curated experience of high quality books through a bespoke app where the money is going towards making this even better — what's not to love about this?
Pinned to the front page for a month, and let's see if we can help him reach an audience.

I listen to audiobooks on my solo rides (and being fat, old and slow, those are most of my rides). I have signed up.
The website and the app look really good.
One point, if I may. A factor for me in choosing a book is its length. I prefer not to have to change book while riding. I see that the length is given but fairly far down the process rather than up front. Just a thought.

And Clive - will see you in that little french hamlet of Three Lone Girls

I will have to select my choice of listening with abundant care. Looks like I will have to go very high brow for fear of being judged.

Sounds great. Big fan of Mubi and other curated content providers. Also quietly into some poetry.
Also very excited for the exact same reasons as Velocio. You don’t need luck, you just need communities like these to share what they love about what you’re doing.
Which is exactly how I found this, and exactly what I’ll do next!

Just going to wish you luck with this - have signed up to see what comes onto the app

Nice one dude, thanks. We are working on a nice little feature at the moment that will bring some free content to the Apps. for now, the App is essentially a player - that connects to the library of books you can build up via subscription or one-off purchase.

ah many thanks. just for clarity the current 30% discount is one time use. get 30% off your first month subscription, or 30% off your first year if you ready to really plunge in.
I hope to be able to post up about a longer term discount for forum members as we develop.
big thanks

great stuff Al. many thanks.
the rhythm is monthly. this means four things
every month a brand new Spiracle Edition is published. a new audiobook that is co-published between us and one of the many independent publishers we work with
the subscriber selection is refreshed, always including Edition above, and other titles from our Collection. this selection usually forms part of a theme with the Edition, but may also include Guest Picks
new Murmurations content becomes available, interviews, discussion, articles, podcasts, that usually relate to the Edition but can be off piste too
your subscription is reset. so you can add two more books to your library. but don't forget to add two from the current month (newsletter reminders are sent)

This looks good.
i don't "consume" audiobooks but for an outsider fron the design world, the art direction and illustrative style looks to suit content and should appeal to the targeted audience.
Spiracle Audiobooks
Some of you on here know, including the boss man, that I have been toiling on this new start up audiobook platform for some time (nearly two years now!). Putting this in a separate thread for now but can be merged with What are you reading or the Audiobooks thread later.
Posting now as we hit a major milestone just over a week ago in getting our Spiracle Player App launched in both the Apple and Google Play stores. I am not an earphones in on the bike kind but did for the first time the other day listening to the thrilling The Birthday Party
Promoting this we are offering 30% discount on new subscriptions until the end of the month. This is the specific code for LFGSS: G0TWHEEL5-LFGSS-30
I am hoping to set up an ongoing code for a discount to forumengers so more on that when I can.
