a collection of redundant and poor decisions

After building a paper template I can confirm that a shimano steps 6100/8000 mount basically lines up almost perfectly with 2 holes on some bafang motors. Will need some file work to fit but Rabbit bike has a plan forward now. Talking to my wife about doing a 5ish day tour along a river here in austria so maybe I build it for that. OR maybe something else silly. Have been eyeing a pair of Bike friday folders.

So after spending my lunch break trying to hand file the clearance yo mount the bafang motor it is now clear power tools will be required. Maybe a dremel with the right tip?

I'm suprised - a sharp file should make short work of the aluminium I thought..
Are you trying to increase the hole size or make them a different shape?

no i have to open the internal space between the mounting surfaces. its something like 2mm no narrow. MAybe the file is just perished, that is a possibility I suppose but it was making progress. I should probably work on this when im not pressed for time.

I see - then I'd probably try something like a multicutter with a coarse triangular sanding pad.

You're just trolling with the cockpits now

A lil bit, its a socks with birkenstocks vibe. But ignoring the bar ends its all pretty normalish. Narrowing the cockpit solves some cable bind issues without having to recable the shift box.

Planing to use it for a weekend away the rebuild most of it: suspension fork, bars, different middrive, no pizza rack 😢.

My wives Katu is now bafang bbs01 mid drive, upgraded v brakes, and getting ready to du a little tour next month. Probably need to find a black seatpost.
