  • Must be great seeing the walls start to come up!

  • There’s been a lot of demolition and a fair amount going up.

  • Looks like we have AIB in the garage so added ££££ and a couple of the original internal walls aren’t fit for purpose so will need rebuilding so more £££
Oh well our NHS pay settlement will be spent in a nanosecond .

  • Coming on well, brings back so many memories of us doing ours.. even the doors, wallpapers etc are similar..

  • They’re working very fast and we’re at the point of no return! Nice rats nest with dead rat in the front plastic fascia .
We’ve been living in a toxic shithole

  • I first thought this was terrazzo wallpaper!

Thanks for sharing, I enjoy this stuff.

  • Visiting the site today…
Builders took all the tiles off what was left of the roof, didn’t cover it , then yesterday it pelted it down.
Wonder if there will be any ceilings left?

  • Builders took all the tiles off what was left of the roof, didn’t cover it ,

Hah, standard. Did they give you the option for a tin roof whilst the work is done?

Depends what was under the tiles, but I'd be optimistic that things should be ok...

  • Tiles off the roof is a sure fire way to end a drought. Every time we’ve had a roof done it’s chucked it down. But fear not, it’ll be fine.

  • No, they said they’d “cover it” should there be any inclement weather forecast (although they didn’t) and the only thing under the tile was some 50 year old roof felt but not sure it’s that waterproof any more.
I’ll see for sure later on😱

  • No point in worrying about it as the ceilings were all wonky anyway.

  • Yeah. Even with the tiles off most of the water will run off whatever sheaving is below the tiles.

Tru. When we had our flat roof off the rain was biblical that week. The folks doing it new how to cover it with a mega-tarp and it keep it mostly watertight though, thank goodness.

  • Ah yes, it snowed when I had mine off for the loft conversion. That really ensured that the damp got everywhere.

  • All is good 👍
    Edit (Tuesday 5.24am)
it’s been raining for hours and hours- may not be so lucky today

  • Ceilings have held up but we've decided that we're going to get them replaced as the current boards have years of rat urine on/in them...
The house is/ was but won't be when done a serious health hazard...

  • Steps off at the front (nearly) roof off which will be filled with 2m x1.5m glass to let in the light at the front

  • This is the "what the fuck have I done to my house!" stage I guess.

  • That was a couple of weeks ago to be honest - now it’s “ this is going to f’ing amazing” kind of feeling. Will try to get pictures of the space upstairs later.
    Officially no longer a bungalow
