16/05 81.8kg 24.3% bf and 86cm waist
22/05 79.8kg 23.4% bf and 84 cm waist
11/07 74.8kg 20.1% bf and 79cm waist
27/07 73.1kg 19.8% bf and 75cm waistSuper happy with that, 9 days out from my big race of the summer (Ironman Estonia) this is the lightest I’ve been for an Ironman, focussing on maintaining weight which is a bit tricky as training volume is reducing but my mind is still telling me I need to eat like a horse so trying to find the right balance!
Would like to push on post race to get down to 70kg but we shall see how motivation is I’ve got a place for challenge Roth next year so there is that to keep my eye on.

Nice work dude.
Feeling any different? -

Had a bit of a wobble in March-April as I went on holiday but I passed 11kg lost since Jan today. I'm aiming to lose another 5kg in the next few months.

Day on day comparisons are pointless, for the reasons you mention - weight fluctuates by kilos a day, due to water / hydration if nothing else.
Even week on week comparisons have large margins of error.
That's not to say that you don't need to weigh daily (at the same time, in as similar conditions as you can to miminise confounding factors) if you are to infer any sort of trend with any sort of accuracy.
Just don't infer anything from the daily moves themselves.

Feeling any different?
Yes, I feel better when I look in the mirror and when I bend over without a top on.
I walked up a mountain in the Lake District last week and felt kinda fit. Which was nice.
On the other hand, I often feel hungry, I crave snacks and I have been guilty if getting snappy when the whole family get ice creams in front of me and then ask me to hold them whilst they go to the loo.

Once a week is better plus you become less obsessed with it...
I know this to be true, but obsession is my main motivator. It's taken me 44 years to realise that simple fact about myself.
Simply reading my history if posts in this website alone should be enough of a clue!

Nothing wrong with daily recording, it's just what you compare things to.
I used to compare the median value from the last 7 days with the median value of the period 14-20 days ago or 28-34 days ago. That generally means you're comparing apples to apples.
Graphing daily values is also good as you're looking for the general trend, not whether you've gone for an extra long piss after being on the lash the night before (where I could be ~3kg lighter than normal).
Individual days have trends too, here's a bunch of weights from back in 2018 grouped by days. Monday's tended to be higher due to weekend largesse and Wednesday tended to be lower as I played 5-a-side late on a Tuesday night:

I’ve lost nearly 10kg (92.3 => 82.8 at last weighing) and partner nearly as much in the past 3.5 weeks on the HBD diet. As well as the weight loss feeling better in self, although I haven’t done the Epsom salts cleanse that’s recommended. Too far. The diet itself is all a bit Fulham Mum but I am pleasantly surprised and would recommend to anyone struggling to lose a bit of timber.

I know this to be true
It’s not true. Meta-studies indicate that self-weighing is a useful part of losing weight, but that there’s no substantive difference between weighing every day or weighing every week. Which doesn’t indicate that weighing weekly is any better - or worse - than weighing daily. So it’s down to what works for the individual. Me, personally, I am more motivated by a daily weigh, and every time I’ve tried to lose weight with a weekly weigh I have failed. Obvs this is me and everyone’s mileage is going to vary, but if people find a daily weigh is working for them then they should crack on.

I weigh everyday. Just becomes routine and keeps you honest

I found some high volume snacks which are low call but fill you up are useful.
Tuna, skyr, rice cakes, jelly are pretty useful for this
Another one is lots of veg and leafy greens -

Tuna sounds interesting! I'll investigate, thanks.

Weighed myself this morning at 93.1kg. I'm struggling to get down near 90 for some reason. I'd imagine it's diet related as I'm in full triathlon training mode right now, with a daily calisthenic workout and yoga. I'm definitely slimmer but I guess muscle weighs more than fat (or so I'm told).
I'm going to try a cut for a couple of weeks to see if I can get under 90. No sugar and lower my carbs I guess. I've not drank booze in a month too which is delightful. Weirdly I'm getting up at 4am as a result.

If you're training for that event does achieving an arbitrary weight target make sense?
-
• #444
Maybe, maybe not. I used to compete at around 85kg, so I'm used to that weight. I feel heavy at the moment, especially when running. I have a bit of a sweet tooth too so a week or two off refined sugar will be no bad thing.

This passes. I kind of miss it now, I got so much shit done. But it was a pain then.

I've been sitting between 81 and 80 for about 4 months. Admittedly holidaying didn't help. Since Jan I'm over 10kg down but I'd just like to crack another couple of kg

Two weeks in France completely fucked it for me. Put on like half a stone or more. Shed a kg or so since coming back but am finding it difficult to find the motivation to do much more than maintain weight.
