I don't like Boris at all, but I do enjoy that he did that to a child in a game of rugby.

All hail our new overlord.

Despite all the politics, I feel ok that there is a PM from an ethnic minority background, no matter how short his term is likely to be.

Boris will be spinning on his first-class flight back to the Caribbean

So Penny was also talking utter bollocks with the "we definitely have enough votes" strategy.
Is there anyone in the party who isn't a serial bullshitter? (I know the answer)
-
• #1483
There is humour in the fact the person the Tory party members didn't vote for is now the Prime Minister.
-
• #1484
It's a good step, but remember that the general public didn't have a say in the decision, so we can't really extrapolate to the general population unfortunately

Fwiw I read this as;
initially I was worried about a PM from an ethnic minority background, but now I've come to terms with it
Pretty confident this is not what you were going for so thought I'd mention it.
-
• #1486
Yeah but then you look at his voting record....

This does put a smile on my face, I wonder how that LBC caller is getting on with the news.

As much as I want this lot out, I've got more confidence in Rishi bringing the party together and providing some much needed stability to the country.
-
• #1489
The ERG suicide bombers will have something to say about that.
-
• #1490
Maybe. But I think like Boris they've lost their juice.
Pretty sure the vast majority now know in their hearts Brexit has been a pile of shit - whatever they say out loud.

Damn, I was about to put £50 on Mordaunt at 12/1. If she’d gathered the 100 nominations, she’d have been a dead cert with the Tory membership, since they’re so very, very racist.
-
• #1492
Irony being that the likelihood of a minority Labour win at the next election just went up quite a bit.
SNP-Lab coalition with Scotland waving bye-bye in 2026?

Love the thought of the Torys tearing themselves apart because a non-white man is in charge
-
• #1494
It’s so predictable.

Perhaps Sunak will be tempted to follow Brecht's dictum:
would it not be simpler to dissolve the [membership] and elect another? -
• #1496
All this Boris and Rishi shit boils my piss, neither are Beyoncé so call them by their surname (or full name if preferred) like any other politician
-
• #1497
Meh, I don't really buy the complaint of being over familiar by calling them by their first name.
-
• #1498
much needed stability to the country
It was only July that he resigned as Chancellor for his own personal ambition.

• #1499
Boris isnt even the name he uses in his private life
I'm with Big Ted on this one

Definitely didn't mean it to be read that way.
I was going to write 'happy that there is ethnic minority PM' but that didn't quite convey my general ambivalence.
I'm from an ethnic minority background, so regardless of his voting history, its nice to feel a bit better represented.Though I will feel triggered if fiscal policy resembles refilling almost empty fairy liquid bottles with water.
rishi in! happy diwali everyone!
