Pretty sure that version of the logo is early-mid 90s ;)

Just won an auction for a more appropriate hiking pack so this is surplus to requirements.
1994 Karrimor Elite daypack. Condition is practically flawless- a little dirt but no tears, scuffs or damage. The only slight issue is the elastic on the front/side mesh pockets is a little baggy now, does not affect function.
I guess it’s around 18-20l ish(standard school rucksack size basically).
Comfy straps and back, chest and waist straps.
£20 collected in E17? Can post at cost but not til after the 25th.

I'm intrigued by the myog pattern on their etsy. I can't imagine it'd go well, but tempting.

can also vouch for the early 90's karrimors. have had two hot earth KS-60HT rucksacks one bought new ( around 1992 ) lasted till about 2013, bought a 2nd nos of ebay 2013 and it still looks pristine after 10 years regular use today. the first went travelling and was a daily commuting rucksack, pretty much every forum ride i've been on i've had one on my back, from the wettest muddiest epping forest rides to the weekly shop. still use the current one almost daily
also got the hot coolmesh 30 recently as i was hoping to keep the hot earth for best
as good as rucksacks get
had a jaguar 65l for about 30 years as well, did 20,000 miles round africa in the early 90's being bashed and abused for 18 months. still going today but i've only used it to carry rubble sacks of horse manure for the last 10 or so years, so just a bit mucky these days but still structutally sound as the day i bought it

I've wanted one for ages, might try making my own but not sure buying my own fabric would actually work out any cheaper!

Nothing will compare to Karrimor from this era.
I’m going climbing on the west coast of Scotland next week, the perfect setting for my hot earth to stretch its legs.
I’ve never done it myself but I’ve seen old pics of people mounting chest ascenders to the daisy chain on Karrimor straps during freehanging ascents. I assume it’s a non-critical attachment point but impressive none the less.My new everyday/hiking bag is on its way. It’s a Karrimor ‘urban’ apparently. Looks like a simplified cross between a hot and trail based on all the pics. Was silly cheap.

If you get a chance I love to see a pic of the back pad/straps on the Coolmesh ;)
Cos I’m that fucking sad. -

Yeah fabric & bits + time value & stress (for me) would likely far exceed cost to buy a complete one. I learnt this with Sourdough.
I'm stupid enough to still consider having a go though...

Phwoar. That’s pretty high tech for the era! The elite series stuff is really nice.

That is insanely good condition for the age and what you've put it through.

I am made abnormally angry by these Ortliebs not standing up.

have put the hot earth through the washing machine once after the 25l tin of white paint i was carrying somehow sprang a leak you can see the faint marks of the paint in places still. the old hot earth KS-60HT from early 1990's was binned.
these are new ( 2012 or so onwards ) ish ! and the hot coolmesh 30 hasn't been used a lot by me admittedly. -

Wife is going to be travelling every two weeks for work. Looking for a backpack - wants a packing cube system, laptop space, waterproof, adjustable. Big enough for two days worth of clothing.
Thoughts?

32L Pata Black Hole is basically perfect for those requirements.
