The rRP is to cover the tubeless set up magic they put in them. They seat first time every time no matter how many times you have them off the rim. Oh and they are super nice as well.

I've actually not tried them tubeless. I probably should!

Woods Cyclery Veeeeeery occasionally have them on sale but even that’s only bringing them down to borderline acceptable levels for ‘premium’ tires.

Bike looks ace, is it a 56? In the absence of Steamrollers I'm looking at the Allday as an alternative . . . any intel greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ramparts are on sale at Spa cycles at the moment for £45.

This is a 54 (:
It’s fun man, it having canti bosses really trumps the steamroller for me.

Thanks for the intel that's super helpful, yeah true and another bottle mount option is a bonus I guess . . .

• #409
yeah it’s great for resting your feet on down hills heh

what is stopping me buying this, gutting the kepler, and then having one of those gravel rigs that everyone’s talkin about???
Oh, it’s that I couldn’t also afford GRX 12 speed and would miss the luscious 51t cassette that my current flat bar drivetrain has

will be better because its not made out of steel

I have one and love it. It's my first gravel bike though so don't have much to compare it to.

what happened to your Mason?
-
• #414
Ah yeah! Don’t we ride the same frame size? 👀
-
• #415
good point! I forgot about that bike 😂
-
• #416
If you fit a 54 you're welcome to have a punt on mine!
-
• #417
I reckon I could well take you up on it!
Plus we ride the same east of Croydon bits anyway right? Should hit the bridleways together somewhen! -
• #418
Drop me a DM, I'm in SE20 if you wanted to pop by and borrow the bike for a bit. Yeah that sounds great, I'm getting bored riding on my own!

@Carbosarus only has good things to say about kinesis

yeah? am pretty tempted.
If I wasn’t about to have an expensive couple months I’d probably give into the impulse.
The flat bar wagon definitely served the purpose of getting me back riding again, it was fun and still is, but honestly I’m mostly just sick of smashing my forearms and fingers into hedges all the time and coming back with arms that look like I’ve been fighting with cats haha.
That and having been riding my road-fixed bike about recently, I have started to miss the good stuff about drop bars but I don’t want to put the Kepler back to drops cos the stack is just so low and the bike so short that it really doesn’t excel off-road like that - at least with my shit skills anyway.
Also I’m just an idiot and can’t leave a bike alone for more than a few months before I get the itch to fuck it all up again

I’ve learned that there is no final form bike, just bikes for the moment, the moment is never a certain amount of time, but just something to experience.
I had a load of bikes in the past 3 years, every type of fixed, gravel, mtb. So experience is nice, can learn ultimately what you want to keep for a bit longer. If you can get it, I’d do it.

Bloody hell.
Very wise!

JB and Scoble have been doing that for years

Yes, night shift has got me feeling all poetic in the forum
-
• #425
yeah Ross is a poet now
Just finished riding the Kepler around Kent for the Brother Big Un, 112km and 1600m of climby climbing. All I have is this photo of a cargo fork grav bike.
But man do I love that 51t. Really saves me bacon.
Still think I may indeed purchase that Kinesis after I’ve had a razz on ltc’s and decide whether I like it or not 👋

Yeah the RRP on the Ramparts is wild. I've managed to find 2 sets "on here" for very reasonable prices before but they don't come up often.
