I think you will hate me for saying this, but do you worry that the stump jumper is ultimately the better more authentic bike, that is best suited to how you want to ride now?
-

scuba gave me some pizza out of tin foil. It was good. And ultimately after seeing his bike, is why I wanted mine.
-
• #129
Not at all. I view that as more of a runaround and there's no way I'd want to get rowdy on a 30+ year old bike even if it is totally safe to do so. Just don't trust it in the same way that I'd trust a new bike.
I also wanted a bike with drops. I don't really get on with flat bars for very long. I also want to make my Stumpjumper more sit up and beg than it is currently.

This bike is going to ride way nicer than the Stumpjumper anyway.

Why the hell not bruv
-
• #132
30 year old piddly little width rims? Na, I'm good thanks. It's also just simply not better for the type of riding I want to do.... It's my town/trailer towing bike.

there is a lot i get about this bike - but the lack of brifters?????? y jb
-
• #134
Because the word brifters is unacceptable. And because I am going 9 speed with a triple and I dunno about you but 9 speed shifters are fucking ugly. If you'd used bar ends before, you'd get it. Infinitely reliable. Basically can't break. Cheap but Dura Ace level. Light. Give an outrageously satisfying click. No indexing problems with the front derailleur so its really easy to get the perfect front derailleur cage placement for no chain rub. They're great.

Bro what happened to that Subaru life?
-
• #136
Gone. Car free care free 🥰
Like Subaru but ultimately owning an ‘outdoorsy’ car never made a difference as to whether or not I spent time outdoors. Now I have $1000 extra per month to spend on going outdoors if I want to 😇

Fokin BB threads weren’t chased well enough from factory… have to take it to the shop tomorrow.
-
• #139
Plus the deck is replaceable. For the cost of a whole Brooks, but still.
-
• #140
Plus all the other spare parts available, though I can't imagine why you would need them except for crash damage.
-
• #141
interesting. all makes sense i guess. have only used dt shifters, never bar end ones
-
• #142
cantis were shit then and are shit now though
even poppi is on discs
-
• #143
No he’s not. He has all but eradicated discs from his life. Get with the program old man.

Also would like to remind you that I live in one of the driest places on the planet. If cantis can stop me at 90kg (lol) and a trailer carrying a weeks worth of groceries, they’ll work on the Crust too.

• #146
Haven’t brooks just started to go this way?
-
• #147
Looks like they will change anything except for leather top for a price..
GB saddle tops can be changed by yourself with the aid of a torx screw driver.
Not to mention the difference in leather quality. GB is at least twice the thickness of a brooks -
• #148
From the man with two very similar geekhouses 😂
-
• #149
Sorry. I was just trying to get jb second guessing himself.

Can we see a picture of your stuntjumper out of interest?
