Abbey tools to the rescue

awesome!

Abbey are beautiful but a basic level would suffice.

Not only does this Grepp tape keep unwrapping but I still haven't sorted out the hood angle on my Surly.

Posting to invite some abuse. That will provoke me into finding some broken Di2 shifters I can turn into comfortable drop bar levers.

(On this, is it just my imagination or do these Tektro levers not play very nicely with modern drops?)

I had the same problem with (I think) the same Tektro levers. I couldn't get a flat transition from the ramps to the hoods without the hoods pointing up like that.

That makes me feel better. With them in an aesthetically pleasing position, I feel like my wrists are ‘rotated’ too far forward.

they are awkward to fit tbh - they kind of sit either at an upright angle but good reach/ transition, or flat-ish and halfway round the drops

Same issue with the tektro levers that you and ltc have.

edit: how is that saddle?

Forget about flat transition, that's useless. Just put the bar where the drops are level, or almost. Then hoods very slightly upwards. Done

If you try this with venturemaxes everything goes very wrong very quickly

Honestly it’s frustratingly good. I was so ready to hate on such a ridiculously expensive object but it’s stupendously comfortable. Flexible, supportive and… just good?

you are right. it so easy if you think about it innit

I had the same Tektro levers years ago, never got along with them. I tried to modify them a bit, filing the surface that's against the bar, got them to sit at a slightly better angle. Then I took a bit more, and more, until the clamp stopped working.

bdhu on my new bars? wonder if hoods should come up a touch when i next wrap them. need to pull the lever reach in a touch as is

Looks acceptable.
Personally I'd rotate bars a smidge further down and hoods up. But minor things.
