• very cool. pink was a great choice for the seat tube.
might have to look into getting a vinyl cutter...

  • Yeah, I might try. I have plenty of vinyl and time!

  • Really phenomenal, especially for a DIY jobber

  • Thanks!

All the parts I have ready to go…

  • And some more. I also have a Wald 139 basket.

Also, my son drew this love heart, so I took a photo and cut it out of vinyl.

  • What gear ratio will you run?

If you say 48/19 this will officially be the most perfectest ever bike

  • This is superb. Can’t wait to see it built.

For pub bike with fatter tyres I would go spinnier than 48x19 but I share mashtons view on that gearing in general

  • 42x17. Sorry. Old man legs. I can always play around with that though.

My fixed basket bike is 47x17 and it’s good, my Samson is 49x17 and thats pretty tall.

  • Is that a Spitfire Wheels top cap?

  • Yeah, it’s a MASH one.

  • Parts I still need:

    • Brake pads
    • Headset
    • Brake cable inners

I’ll get all of that from my friends shop when I get the headset installed.

I have pretty much everything else en route, except the wheelset, which is in a bike box at my mother-in-laws house.

  • That little heart is perfect!

  • Sorry about your loss dude.

Bike has come out 10/10. You should be proud, you have done a great job.

  • Well more paint picked up today.

Did more sparkle on the frame, and some more gloss clear on the forks and stem. Of course I dropped the stem in the grass when it was still wet, I managed to pick most of the little bits of dead grass off of it. Hopefully when it’s dry I can get more off and the stem bag will cover it.

  • Clear coat over it and call it a feature? 😬

  • Hoping to have the headset installed on Wednesday. For now I’m just trying to let it cure in the sun before then.

  • got a link to the glitter clear? I'm super tempted just to spray that straight over my black bike after seeing this haha

  • That looks bananas!
How is the vinyl under the clear coat? Is it kind of smoothing over or leaving a ridge at the edge?

  • @AlexD There’s a ridge. It’s fine, but you can tell they’re vinyl stickers.

@jobrim it’s the Dulux Duramax glitter spray paint.

  • Couple of more things arrived in the post last night.

  • hah, I was thinking the same.
    you do it first, yeah?

Getting the headset installed tomorrow and hopefully the saddle will arrive on Saturday.

Just need to pull out the wheelset this weekend and then it will be complete.

  • Still no headset installed, will hopefully have it done Saturday. Might try and start putting it together on Saturday night though. Not that it will take long, it’s singlespeed! They also attempted delivery of my saddle today, but I wasn’t home, so I won’t get that until next Wednesday now. I’ll also get my wheelset on Sunday.

I’m also thinking of using my Soma porteur rack on this because I’ll be using a Wald 139.

  • Headset installed. It’s act made up from 3 headsets, but I deliberately wanted the top and bottom cups to be different colours. I’m going to get rid of the FSA logo off the top though. That’s ugly.

I picked up some more parts out of storage and realised the wheel I wanted to use is a) fixed and b) has been spray painted black. I’m going to use the silver wheelset from my wife’s SS / FG frame. That’s got a freewheel on it.

I have all the parts now, except for the saddle, which I’ll pick up on Wednesday.

  • That’s got a freewheel on it.

But it's got a fixed sprocket on the other side, right? Right?
