No point - other than for the symbolism. If you’ve had to take all the crew off and it’s been on a fire for a chunk of time then it’s probably only good for scrapping.

If you then add everyone who was under 18 at the time (born after 1st of Jan 1982)
Yay, I'm young again.

and it’s officially sunk.
thats quite an admission, expected them to paint a name on a similar vessel and ‘nothing to see here’ -

It’s all part of the plan

Moskva, the flagship of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, was being towed to port when "stormy seas" caused it to sink, according to a ministry message.
Does the Russian Ministry think everyone was born yesterday? How stupid do they think their citizens and the wider public are? It’s mind boggling

Unconfirmed reports on twitter that Admiral Osipov, commander of the Black |Sea fleet, has been arrested
-
• #2413
Which bit are you disputing? There was a storm and it was being towed
-
• #2414
The wording I saw was "violently arrested", whatever that means.

The head of Ukraine's anti-corruption agency has expressed his
"sincere gratitude" to Moscow's top defense official over alleged
corruption in the Russian military, claiming it has forced soldiers to
abandon their equipment and give up the fight. In a March 9 letter addressed to Russian Defense Minister Sergei
Shoigu, the head of Ukraine's National Agency on Corruption
Prevention, Oleksandr Novikov, said that embezzlement of public funds
has made an "invaluable contribution" to the defense of his country."Russian means and support resources for the attack on Ukraine were
stolen even before they were accumulated on the border of the two
states," Novikov wrote. -

More on the theme of effects of corruption; speculation Russian tanks are running two man crews as the third guys salary is being robbed by officers. Hence columns of tanks driving around with turrets stationary like a parade and not sweeping for danger, sitting ducks for attacks from the side.

It’s common anywhere without good controls. Afghanistan had somewhere between 50 and 70% ghost soldiers, which somewhat speeded up the collapse last year as units that looked strong on paper were effectively non-functional

missing two of the old Mk. 1 eyeballs

Don’t they have auto loader?
-
• #2423
Autoloading isn't autoscanning autoaiming and autofiring. You still need a gunner.
-
• #2424
The autoloader allows Russian tanks to have a crew of three rather the standard four for Western MBT, Main Battle Tanks.
Running a three-man team with just two means something can't be done simultaneously.
hence, no scanning for adversaries.
Helps the brave Ukrainians to destroy Russian tanks with NLAWs and other anti-tank weapons. -
• #2425
You can hardly see anything from inside a tank.
Trying to run two man crews is insane. The autoloader also leaves propellant charges exposed inside the crew area. Any sparks and turret goes kaboom.
Ah - I haven't made the effort to follow the logic of what is being discussed.
