From the point of view of the average Ukranian civilian, the quicker it was over, the better.

At what point will there be a convenient, “Oh! Yea we got these drones years ago just never got round to using them…” argument, followed by expertly piloted bomb-droppers razing military convoys along the road?

Again, not condoning it but there has got to be a more tactical weapon that could just possibly be in Ukraine’s possession to make headway. Feels like that needs to come soon.

They have it already, Turkish Bayraktar TM2, they only had six and seems some were destroyed in the first day but they are still releasing footage of them hitting convoys and it is thought Turkey are accelerating delivery of more. They made a massive impact in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Might be a coincidence but for those of you that follow global agricultural news, China has been stockpiling wheat and grains for a while and no one was sure why. You now have conflict in two of the worlds largest cereal producers, depending how you look at it, China is either about to profit massively or it has implemented good security of supply

Dozens of people saying "i heard he's a sex pest" and "my sex offender spidey sense is tingling" with vague references to the "way he films women on youtube". Form your own opinion, if you can be arsed, I guess.

It is a load of conjecture and a US briefing the other day said they had no insight of any health issues but had intelligence he has become prone to violent outbursts which is out of character over the last week

Who knows what is what in the current misinformation wars

It's my view. I'm not trying to speak for others.

At the moment Russian supply lines are relatively short from the railheads they rely on and the Ukrainians are a long way from Poland. The ground is fairly firm but apparently Eastern Ukraine gets fairly muddy in spring this will be worse for the Russians once they gave churned it up ( they do have specialist armoured vehicles for soft ground). Trying to clog the enemy roads with terrorised civilians is a tactic, Russian calls for civilians to leave the cities isn’t a humanitarian thing it’s to make it easier to fight through the area and hamper the Ukrainians logistics. It’s also safer to have no enemy civilians in your rear areas. I had to do Geneva Convention training once a year which included not raping Displaced Persons,the Russians obviously don’t, I’d be moving my family personally.
The advancing forces need more and more trucks to replenish their troops and to replenish the trucks who are replenishing their troops, the defenders fall back on their supplies. Russians don’t have a lot of trucks.
But Russian tactics don’t really include resupply they set off with enough fuel food etc. You often see tanks with fuel drums on the back BTR apc have special tanks in the rear doors.Then when they are spent the entire unit is replaced with fresh troops. (They have a specific word for this level of consumables I’ll look it up when I get home). I’ll also look up what we expected a unit to do but I think the maximum was 200km or 5 days

I think this defines what their objective was (an accidentally released, kremlin endorsed piece, that envisaged a swift Russian victory). This is hard to reconcile with Russia recognizing Ukraine as an independent country. I think the only way they could achieve this objective, if at all, is with an endless occupation and brutally repressive puppet regime.

it also ties in with what Lukashenko said in that ridiculous interview when he was saying how he wants Putin to make him a colonel in the new Greater Russia army.

It feels odd to wish that a Western force learned enough from (Vietnam to Afghanistan), to know how to fight guerrilla against an invading force.

Rumours spread that Yanukovych, ex president of Ukraine who is pro russian and fled to Russia during Ukrainian revolution of 2014 is in Belarus and possibly he might be installed as Russian puppet of a president of Ukraine.

Lukashenko been dragging his feet a bit on committing troops, apparently.

A friend just sent this to me, he says the source is reliable (He worked in Moscow for AFP news and is now a senior oil reporter for Platts and spent a lot of time living/working for news agencies in Russia and Baltic states so I trust his judgment)
