  • Love the new colours, very tempted by the bibs when they come in.

But no reflectives on the long sleeve jersey? IMO pretty essential for winter kit :/

  • I dunno - if it's dark enough to want reflective kit then it's usually dark enough to have lights on, in which case I'd say reflective details are redundant. We've come to expect them on clothes (I do like them on oversocks cause my feet are moving) but pretty sure the "convict stripes" on my rapha jerseys have no effect on driver behaviour, especially alongside my dynamo lights

  • ....but definitely one idea floating around for a workshop is application of reflective tranafers to any bit of kit. I mentioned in another thread I did a tryout at Fforest at start of Sept, which worked really well. Could create some LFGSS logos/graphics/icons/shapes in a spectrum of coloured retro-reflective film, and have a day/evening for people to drop by and add to existing (any brand as well as Albion) products?

Pics in here of the Fforest and Spirit Cymru icons being applied to kit - this is all reflective, some colours more effective than others, that standard silver being the brightest; https://www.albioncycling.com/2021/09/fforest-gran-ffondo/

  • when's the tie dye casual wear T drop ? ; )

  • Yeah! Also figuring this out too!

Idea was that all the guests received a pristine Fforest logo T on arrival, and went on a journey with it over the weekend, ending with the psychedelic-washing-line/disco-cross-race on the final night. Well up for more of this.

  • Any one got the rain jacket and recommend it? The elasticated bottom is what I like the look of. But would i be better getting something gore-tex at that price range?

  • Some fantastic looking kit and the photos are great but, and I accept it’s not rational, I can’t be doing with two way zips (and not due to childhood frank’n ‘beans trauma).

  • Big Ted, I have good & bad news for you and your not-too-irrational ways (if pro riders are anything to go by). I’ve got something cooking and in work …but you’re going to have to wait 6 months… It’s good, v pleased with it.

  • Does Albion offer an industry discount? Rapha offer 20% and its one of reasons I buy Rapha as it makes it just about obtainable for me (cycle courier), plus the repairs and customer service is good. I like to buy from companies that offer repairs of kit (Patagonia) and I see Albion do.

  • To counter, I wouldn't buy a jacket or gilet without a two way zip

  • Sounds good, will keep my eye out

  • Absolutely and it’s even more inexplicable as I’m convinced I could absolutely work a cloak on a bike

  • when I grow up I want to be you

  • same. I hate the jackets I have from the time before I knew about 2-way zips

  • Pedaled tokaido alpha fleece jacket had a two way zip that never stayed shut at the bottom . I paid a local seamstress to throw in a proper mans zip thats works as a zip should.

Anyway alpha fleece on the inside of a bright red shakedry with a dropped down tail like a gabba . Full mans zip with a scratch guard flap .

While i am in editing mode
My girlfriend likes your stuff i will research what she would want from a jacket.

  • I’m with ted. Does this make me #pro??
But not sure we need to gender zips….
Two way zips always come a little undone creating sharp points that rub tights or bibs.
Some kind of flip over zip guard could eliminate this.

Reflectivity I’ve had a look in to previously ahead of TCR. There is a very wide range of standard, durability and reflectiveness.
Personally I’m all for it, one so if something should happen to me my family know I’ve done all I could as would the courts.
Also lots of longer races/ events require it. Having high quality reflective stuff meaning not having to have a specific separate garment would be good.
That said a good fitting high quality reflective vest like the old sportful one would also be of interest @Chopsicle and I’m sure given the expanding ultra scene would sell well.
    Forum list? ;-)

  • Oooft, I'm really tempted by that earth red jacket...

  • At the risk of sounding ignorant: wtf is a two way zip? Zip goes up, zip goes down, no?

  • Two zip pulls, one zip.
So you can open up from the bottom for some ventilation without your jacket flapping everywhere in the wind

  • Don't know how people can live with jackets that don't do this.

  • We aren’t all peep hole exhibitionists

  • I have nothing to say other than Albion make primo kit. Well made, looks slick, and very reasonably priced. It’s run by a group of genuinely nice dudes, and @Chopsicle is a dreamboat with magical sewing abilities and a fountain of technical knowledge.

I get pretty decent discount on Rapha through work, but choose to pay full price for Albion over Rapha 90% of the time because I prefer the kit and I like to support the little guy whenever possible.

I also feel like Albion is the more sustainable option. (I have no idea if this is an accurate assumption or not though TBH!)

    ✌️

  • P.S.

G, hurry up with the cargo bibs pls.

  • we need a chopsicle thread
