Has anyone tried both the insulated jacket and the lightweight insulated?
What are the key differences? Pack ability? Is there much difference in warmth/protection?

Any news on cargo bibs @Chopsicle?
Sorry for this delay @xDOMx - and also have something else to get back to you on - but wanted to check in with something definite
In process of approving final prototypes with Italian factory. This should mean 6 weeks to delivery/launch ….for an idea of the pockets, have a look at the Deep Winter Tights; the horizontal rear pocket is great for a rain jacket or removable accessories like arm-warmers, with regular mesh pockets on the thighs.
Sorry again for the delay - will be in touch in the other stuff in a tick!

And yes, the difference is quite significant in terms of bulk, 40%, possibly 50%, and reflected in having a more structured product in the Insulated ….the LW Insulated is great paired with a rain jacket, using them like a 3-in-1 system

Thanks @Chopsicle and not to worry!
I presume there will be the standard pockets on the legs, too?
EDIT: You answered this question above. Must try harder. C-

Does anyone have the rain jacket and able to comment on breathability, fit etc? I’m also looking at rapha gore tex at similar price for comparison
Thanks -
• #232
I got the rain jacket, it’s really nice. I’ve not had to use it much yet though. I doubt it’s technically as good / breathable as a shakedry. But it is a nice thing. Sorry prob not that helpful
-
• #233
Yes, it's not a Shakedry level of breathability/packability (nothing is apart from Shakedry!) but it's a very thin pu membrane, and a good solid jacket.

extremely excited for cargo bibs

same here! ...it's been a funny time for supply issues, with a knockon from delays way back at raw-source > fibre-suppliers > yarn spinners > jersey mills etc just rippling all along the line and causing unforeseen delays. Same with pad supplies, something you take for granted, but it's been very complex to manage a limited pool.

How do albion bibs size up to rapha in terms of torso length?
-
• #237
How tall are you?
-
• #238
5 10, rapha medium feels a bit tight top to groin
-
• #239
I'm surprised. I'm 6"1, quite long in the torso and wear Rapha small. They feel tight to stand in but the fit is designed in a riding position. On the bike they're fine
-
• #240
It maybe is as tight as it needs to be to keep the pad in place, i'm sure I don't have an abnormally long torso so that is interesting you have 3 inches on me and find the small fine
-
• #241
I can't speak to your experience, if you're not comfortable definitely try others. I haven't had the chance to test any Albion yet unfortunately

Managed to get round a club ride today with my insulated zoa. I've been recovering from covid and was pleased to have it keeping me toasty especially whilst I rolled through the last 15km at an expectedly sedate pace. Love it!

A nice orange zoa is on that auction site if your a medium . Not mine i should add I was toasty for 6 hours in mine yesterday

Grabbed it. Very nice hand feel on the fabric. Sadly a bit longer in the body than my waterproof jacket but still a good fit for me (Size M, I'm about 5'9-5'10 and can do a pull up) Maybe I'll just have to buy the albion waterproof jacket to ensure full coverage.
One lunatic niggle from someone who has a history of being insane about clothes: The rear pocket stuff sack functionality isn't as good as it could be. The jacket does technically fit in there, but the zip isn't one of those double sided ones so when you turn the pocket inside out to jam the jacket inside it you can't fasten it again, not that it's really necessary...
The zip doesn't run the full length of the pocket either, which made the whole task a bit harder than it needed to be and made me feel I was stressing the stitching.
Great jacket overall though and I can't complain at the price I got it. Would buy again.

Is it last seasons version; Quilted through the whole jacket, with stitching on the outside? If so, it came with a separate stuff sack for the jacket, hence not having the double-sided zipper/running length of pocket. Can't promise, but might be able to find one for you if useful.
The latest version does have a double-sided-zip and pocket is designed to pack-away/no stuff-sack ....I prefer to roll mine into the hood to save faff (and potentially stressing details as you highlight), unless it needs to stash really neat & tidy.

• #246
Stuffing into the hood is a great shout!
-
• #247
Ah yes, well I got it from ebay, so no doubt it is last seasons. No worries on the sack, I have a couple kicking about. I suspected it might be something like that or a sample.
I also normally just do the hood stuff unless it's extremely critical.
