  • Hiya, do you have any idea what version these ones are?
I read up on them and it seems there’s a v1.0 up to the most recent v1.4

Amazed these are still here. I really want to make a bad decision.

  • I’m gonna say they’re version 1.
If I’m honest - I have no indication serial number or otherwise, other than weight; I originally quoted at 1700g which is in fact only true of the later versions (thank you @Fishfabs for uncovering some stuff I knew nothing about these).
These are 2kg, which would suggest they are V1’s.

As with most stuff I sell here, I bought these because I like playing with new bits, particularly the more crazy carbon stuff, and I’m hoping to pass on something that I had some fun with at a price that allows others to have some fun with aswell.

You’d be hard pushed to find a pair of entry level gravel wheels at this kind of mark, let alone a pair with a proper tubeless rim profile.

    I have taken the tyres, valves, cassette, rotors and everything else off the wheels and cleaned them up;
Cannot find anything noteworthy to their condition other than a few small chips to the laquer / paint here and there (they’re a solid carbon monocoque that is then painted).

I put the teravail tyres on when I got them and they mounted, beaded and sealed first time with only a track pump, and have only lost a couple of PSI since I did that, rode them about 80kms and since let them sit in the apartment for a few months or so, so the rims are completely airtight.

They were very smooth and stiff to ride and with the quotes of “lifetime warranties” (albeit to the original owner) and the pure attention to detail of the R&D and hand manufacture of these, I can’t see any new owner having any issue with performance, form or function.

If I end up having to pack these away in to storage, so be it, but I’d like someone else to have a laugh with them instead!

Someone make me an offer for the pair of wheels alone, as per the collection/meet up discussed above - or if you need / want rotors or a cassette etc just shout.

  • Seems like Spengle upgraded all customers that pre-ordered the launch V1.0 model to V1.4 free of charge when they found weight gains in the lay-up, so I imagine these will be V1.4 - which was also about 2kg.
I think the first-release ones were more like 2.2kg... from looking around online.
It's only the very latest (V2.0?) ones with different hubs that are down to 1700-1800grams 'ish as advertised now.

I'd have these instantly if it meant I could use my current drivetrain on them. Such a bargain.
I really want them but can't justify swapping from SRAM 12sp. Tempted to build a new bike around them!

  • If I wasn't the sort of monster who actually benefits from larger wheels, I'd be planning a new bike around these

  • Thanks for a solid response.
I share the same sentiment with trying daft new tech like these for fun. Admirable to pass on the bargain to someone else.
I’m in the same boat as fishfab re 12 speed.

I’ll be in London in October… in the unlikely event you still have them by then I don’t think I could pass them up.

  • What if the bike you planned then around was a mini velo for tall people

  • For absolute clarity - on the most accurate pair of scales I have using the “let go of them and catch the number that settles longest before they roll”
    These are
    Rear - 1293g
    Front - 1017g
So they may well still be the launch version V1.0!

    FTFY

  • Wheels only - £300

  • Hold on, I've not finished designing my giant mini-velo yet!

  • maybe I buy for a titanium gravel bike?

  • May I refer you to the plentiful verbiage above?!

Bought for fun - fun was had!

Weight is only relevant if weight is felt - 650b/27.5 wheels and massive tyres do not belong to a class of weightlessness - they belong to a class of comfort, capability and I’ll repeat again - FUN

Plus - you bought a 30kg electric Brompton, so please, repeal 😘

  • weight is felt

    that was a good bike

  • That Felt was bloody excellent - shame it wasn’t disc.

  • £290

  • Any way to convert the rear to 135mm qr?

  • Spengle mention on their website that there is the option to convert the rear axle - the ends of the rear axle look to have unscrewable end caps.

  • £280

  • £250 if you can come and collect this weekend

  • I’m holding out for next weekends price… 😬

  • eBay £500

  • Ain’t getting lower than £250 so if you want some £1500 fun wheels £1250 less - come get em!

  • Dickpreciation in full swing. Bonkers quite frankly
