  • Is Beaumont that experienced offroad?

  • Tracker working again, is 2nd.

  • Seems like he's got Marcus Stitz chasing him down with a camera every so often. Some promo bits by "Gravel Union" whoever they are on insta too.

  • Other than grass track, not sure

  • Angus Young stopped for a total of 10 minutes so far... I guess he'll get two good night's sleep at CP1 but that's mighty impressive for nearly 600km over that terrain

  • Hells bells, that's a touch too much but I guess when you're on the highway to hell and it's a long way to the top, you have to shoot to thrill

  • Behind the top five it looks like a lot of riders will be bedding down nr Ebbw Vale tonight, poor fuckers

  • routing for Lewis Clark who's riding SS. lolz. 30,000m climbing in 2000km on one gear.

  • Pre GCN. He was a special guest at said games and said it in one of those jokey but I’m deadly serious ways.

I should probably rise above it but what’s life without irrational hatred.

  • Side point hopefully catch the riders a few times at Killin this year.

  • no complaining on his instagram yet. he's mostly been clucking at cows and eating shit food.

  • I know Ed and have met Sharn a few times, happy to see they're both doing great so far and might cross paths too... if the stars align I hope to see them pass through Sale/Mcr later in the week.

@atk the route almost passes your house, will you be heading out?

  • Probably will, maybe take tequila shots or something. What's the preferred hand up on an ultra?

  • Probably will, maybe take tequila shots or something.

Ace. I was thinking Jelly Babies and a wet sponge for the riders. Tequila while waiting for them sounds a good plan.

What's the preferred hand up on an ultra?

    Something small and light?

    ?

  • Tuff northwesterly headwind in the northwest this morning.

  • Ed was in 5th but has snapped his mech hanger so detour to Brecon to find a LBS.

  • And they're off...

  • Tucked up in bed while the front groups came past overnight. Could rush to see Alice S but I've just put a brew on.

  • I haven't made it out to see any riders pass, been unwell since Monday night. :/

  • Thoroughly enjoying watching my frequent riding buddy Carl smashing it in third place! He does love the rough stuff, no doubt particularly enjoying the home turf of the Yorkshire Dales. Hoping he'll spot the sticker of our cycling club which I put on a deer gate just before Killin when they get to the Highlands.

  • Aye, he's doing well! Looks like he was just pipped to CP2 by Jaimi Wilson though. Not much between 3rd and 7th. AC/DC continues on his highway to hell;

  • thoughts on touring this route? looks hard.

  • looks hard.

Always depends on what time you take to do it, allow a year and you can walk the whole thing and stop at all the pubs.

I think there would be some dreadful stretches for a touring trip you might as well do by train and spend more time around the nice bits, depending on your appreciation for industrial outskits of big cities
