Lol, at least the bike is silent!

Are you sure it’s enough of a motorcycle to warrant insurance, helmet , no booze , no pavement parking ?
-
• #756
This is what's always dissuaded me from this kind of thing. Just doesn't offer enough over a pedal bike to make it worth it

It's classed as a moped ,governed to just under 30 mph but can be adjusted to a maximum of 40mph apparently.

I get it's not everyone's cup of tea, but the looks and simplicity are enough for me !

I mean there are loads of mopeds out there so obviously that kind of thing suits a lot of people. I was thinking of getting one but just didn't have the combination of journeys that were too far to cycle but didn't involve roads where the speed was only 30mph.
I imagine if it's adjusted to 40mph it would invalidate your insurance, you'd be required to have indicators, etc.

Is there a good write up of auto pilot, who has what and what it does?

Time to end the zero emission congestion charge exemption?
Kind of makes the ULEZ seem a bit pointless too.

But do the particulates contribute to global warming? Innocent question.
-
• #764
Don't know but exhaust emissions don't cause congestion.
I'd prefer EVs to be on the roads Vs diesels but I'd rather there were just fewer cars
Charge everyone -

No but they are terrible for people in urban areas with breathing issues such as asthma, they also contribute to lung cancer and heart disease. Car tyres are also a major source of microplastics in water courses.

Thank you - that’s a pretty succinct summary.

Looking for an EV (not van) that that take 2x bikes upright with front wheels taken out (like in my C4 Picasso). Asking too much?
-
• #768
Depending on saddle height, my eNiro will do that. With rear seats down, obvs.
-
• #769
With the bikes upright?....
-
• #770
I'd have to check, but I'm sure I've done that.
Although it was prob with my daughter and wife's bikes, both of whom are around 5ft tall and ride the same frame.

I've got a Toyota RAV4 plug in hybrid on order for delivery next year on lease. 18kw battery, so claimed 40-45mile electric range. As most of my day to day driving is school runs, and short travel appointments, this sounds ok.
Should I be considering a full electric? For the family practicality, I guess I'd be looking at model Y, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ionic 5, etc?I was given a Volvo XC40 P8 EV as a courtesy car, and it was hilariously fast. Quite expensive and not fantastic range however.

My leaf is currently in the shop for some cosmetic work after been shunted in a car park, the courtesy car I've been given is a Toyota Corolla 1.8 hybrid, getting 56mpg on the way to work, 23 miles each way. Have figured out that it has cost me in a week what I would spend on electric in a month to run our EV, hurts a little!

Sounds about right, with that size battery you could just use the 3 pin granny charger, won't take long to charge!

Someone (Directline?) is advertising EV car insurance with EV perks like inclusive charging. I wonder if anyone includes EV courtesy cars?
That was a road legal example, the mirrors were just unscrewed. It had a number plate on the rear. I just rode around the field, it handled like any moped I've ridden before. Dealer handles registration.
