Would be a good time for cab to retire. Wonder if he will...

he is only 36, at that tender age Valverde was getting all Ardennes classics

i hope i'm still winning sprints when i'm 36

I love seeing cav's Tiny Little Fists in the air celebration.
-
• #609
Looks like he’s on mechanical DA to me.
-
• #610
He’s gonna race for as long as he can, he clearly loves racing his bike. I’m pretty sure he’ll be at DQS next season, after that who knows how long he’ll ride for.

I don't think he'd retire. I bet that Merckx stage wins record was / is meaningful to him. If he managed to keep going over the past couple of years, yesterday's result would bring it back into focus.

• #612
It’s too big (and close) a goal for him and sponsors to ignore now he’s proven he can still win.
-

How many is off ? 4?
That would mean at least two more tours? -
• #614
There are enough stages that could / should end in a sprint in this tour, for him to make 35.

3 to tie.

Quote from Cav's coach back in April
https://www.stickybottle.com/latest-news/mark-cavendishs-sprint-data-is-better-now-than-6-years-ago-his-coach-says/However, Anastopoulos has insisted Cavendish’s sprint is superior now than it was six years ago.
“We can see now that he has a slightly better peak power and the duration of his sprint is better now than previously,” he said of 2021 data compared to 2015.
“So now he can also hold his sprint for a longer period of time than previously,”

Impressive numbers, but isn't the competition much stronger now as well? Feels like there's 2-3 well organised sprint trains at least now, a few years ago HTC was way ahead of all others in terms of organisation and plan

What could you be inferring?
Are you suggesting he's gone vegan and gluten free? -
• #620
With no Bennett, Gaviria, Ackermann and now Ewan, I’d say that only Merlier remains of the best sprinters of this season, along with Cavendish.
We’ll see tomorrow who is top sprinting dog in this year’s Tour.

I may be overly harsh on Demare there, but he’s not been at the level he was last year so far this season.
-
• #622
strange that the sprint field was stronger in Giro this year
also you are counting sagan and matthews out?
-
• #623
Good spot! Ashley then.

Can’t get mechanical DA on Specialized Tarmac SL7s, they are electronic only I believe.
