I support Sonny’s statement.

Crikey! Just watched the highlights, absolute carnage. Apart from Omi- Opi, all rider induced crashes, maybe all the road captains need to get together and have a chat, they need to start looking out for one another a bit more. Is Froome still in?, this carries on much longer he may be in with a chance.

UCI magic 8-ball: no flapping
Seriously though it’s been pretty unenjoyable watching so many people hit the deck - hopefully settles down tomorrow

FFS what a mess. Quite unpleasant watching those hopes and dreams being smoked.

I don’t know why the 3km rule applies, and not a stage-specific distance (from the finish) at a suitable point?

Luke rowe gets a fine a finger wag and -20 uci points for mouthing off.

Under what rule exactly?
The one that states that the arm flap must only be used on a commute against errant motorists.

Jack Haig:
“Jack suffered a fractured left collarbone and concussion following the crash. He is conscious and okay and scans showed no head trauma. He will remain in hospital overnight for observation following the team and UCI protocols.”
He's not alright, but he's not as not alright as it looked at one point.
What a nasty stage. It's the kind where you'd feel a bit bad winning it and having to celebrate.

Yeah, weird scene.

Dillier might wish for a rather more anonymous jersey today, friends in the peleton could be in short supply.

Ciro Scognamiglio reporting that riders asked for a neutralisation in the last km yesterday but comms weren’t playing ball.

Maybe a go slow this morning then ?

The stage is 150km. They could take the piss and ride it at 25kph. But I suspect most of them will want to get it done and lick their wounds.

Just caught up with the first stages. Absolute carnage.

• #422
So in terms of crashes, where does this stage stand in the overall statistics of TdF carnage throughout the ages?
-
• #423
Got to be up there with was it 2014 (?) when the opening stages were tipping it down and practically all the favourites were taken out. Memory pretty flaky on that though. Definitely don’t remember such a high body count though.

2014 was memorable for Are Cav and Froome crashing out early on.
2015 was the bad crash on stage 3 where Cancellara broke his back. That was a straight bit of road.

So Roglic is continuing. Any word on whether GT is starting today?
Looking at the footage, Colbrelli's story makes sense.
