  • only one of them is on €5.5 million contract

    respect Michelle's hustle

  • Casual bit of misogyny in the morning washed down with your flat white and Bircher muesli.

  • wait no! Nothing to do with her being a woman, I would have said same about Dowsett, its the vlogger/influencer model that I am poking at.

  • There is no competition on GC between Cav, Froome and Greipel, Cav will pull away from the other two in GCMinor on time bonuses.

  • Ah. Ok.
There's a lot of stuff aimed at partners of athletes.
It's not always immediately apparent which bit about them is being knocked.

  • Amey doesn't strick me as the misogynist kind. But you can never trust a zwift rider.

  • As a zwift rider, I believe I can't trust anyone.

(edit: I don't think Amey is a misogynist. I think the comment can be read that way, and I don't think it's too much of a stretch to find plenty of "that michelle is a crazy woman" type stuff on here. See peak Bradders vs FroomeDog years)

  • If you've been wondering why Thomas De Gendt isn't getting in breaks; he's still putting up best ever power numbers but the younger riders have got better. In his words, "suddenly"

    https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/de-gendt-its-clear-that-the-general-level-is-just-much-higher-at-the-tour-de-france/

"Normally, with those values, I can ride the whole peloton to pieces. Here, I was 100 metres behind in a group of 70 riders – and I started from the front row. When you're not in the peloton after that it's clear that the general level is just much higher."

  • Lotto-Soudal are not a team that is at the cutting edge of anything, so it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if they are behind the curve in all aspects of performance, be it nutrition, aerodynamics, recovery or doping.

  • classic campag users

  • Ha ha. Would Rep.

  • The same campag users that have won the last few stages?
Anyway tdg seems pretty clear that he thinks somethings going on. I think he realises that throwing the 'other things' insinuation in an interview makes it look like sour grapes for him personally, and also tars the whole sport with the same brush. It's not something that a journeyman pro who's generally well liked and chooses his words carefully would do on a whim.

  • I would like to hear what Tao has to say on the general level. I do find it surprising that he isn't riding with the the Carapaz group in the finale. Maybe he isn't at the same level as the giro last year, or maybe the racing is just much harder.

  • De Gent is by no means a 'journeyman pro', he's one of the strongest riders around and with a list of major wins to his credit.

  • I think my definition of journeyman is different to yours, I didn't mean he was average, but he's been around a long time.

  • Was one of the strongest riders.

  • Not Geoghegan Heart (and none the other racers) has been in a race like last weeks Tour before.

  • Indeed. The 1 and only 'Mr Breakaway' in so many recent GT's.

  • When De Gendt speaks I listen but emotion/fatigue and a mic in the face means riders say stuff maybe they’d not 100% stand-by later. Dan Martin advocating for NoGravel at this year’s Giro springs to mind.

  • He's 34. The funnel for selecting younger riders is bigger?

  • “I rode my better [power] numbers and was in the last group”, Van Avermaet said, “the others just rider faster.”

Your bike has mtb brakes Greg.

  • it was a pre-stage interview, to me he came across as fairly composed

  • he has brought shame to the golden helmet
