  • Yep, 18,000mi / 29,000km but that circumference gig does sound kinda neat... ;)

  • Great to see you getting some press coverage. Keep on tapping out the kms

  • It definitely sounds good, if I had 15 more days annual leave then I would of gone for that but unfortunately I don't.. another year maybe

  • The publicity from the Metro article has been great, I'm really pleased as it's boosted my sponsorship by around £500 which is loads over a weekend. It's mental how it's had over 250 shares, granted most of that is my mum

  • Great stuff. Really enjoying your progress and journey. Just keep going :)

  • I tweeted it without using their sharing shit so 251.

I'm sure that got massive engagement from my billions of followers. :D

  • £4k mark passed! Let’s hope more people can donate as you close in on your distance target and get it up to £5k.

    Really inspiring effort, @Norfolkbound

  • And I retweeted @hippy's link to my couple of dozen more followers!

  • I haven't donated yet. This slacker has to finish first :D

  • This explains why my following has increased hugely :)

  • I don't blame you, I'd do the same. I've still got a long way to go

  • I'm not doubting your success, I'm just lazy.

  • You've come a long way already though, so donating part way through keeps it ticking along.

  • Thanks Andy, I'm pretty happy about hitting 4k. It's funny as my initial target was 2.5k but one of mates said you've committed your life for a whole year I think you should double it.

It's nice to have the publicity at this point of the challenge as the support is incredibly motivating. Plus I've had some contact from SiS so lets see what happens with that

  • Worth checking with your employer to see if they charity/donation match. Mine did when I did some fundraising for Docs without Borders.

  • That's a good idea, they have said they will sponsor but not sure on the amount. The owner of the company is/was a ultra cyclist in his day so they've been following my progress.

  • Someone we know?

  • Probably not, his name is Stuart Dobson. He did Audax's in his day so might be known through that, he's mid 70s now but does occasional still ride from his home to work

  • SO the CEO of S i S has been in contact with me and wants me to be one of their athletes. I've been emailed the terms and conditions etc and the benefits are definitely worth while. It's pretty cool and I'm pleased but I will have to do the occasional IG post/story/live questions. I have a strong dislike for influencers and that's never been something that interest me in doing but this opportunity may lead to more and will help me through the 'dark months' of this challenge. My hatred of pushy influencers runs deep though...

Looking through my amazon orders, I've got through 17.5kg of maltodextrin during this challenge so nutritional help will be helpful.

As you can tell I'm not sure what to do, I'm swaying with yes as the perks are decent and the products are great.

  • I dont know if you use SiS products already and like them, if so, I think its fair to say you like them in social media posts.

If not...you could try them and be honest in posts and if that gets you punted from SiS then so be it. Not pushy then, just the truth. Integrity upheld.

Definitely know what you mean but, like you say, if it leads to you going on to get real good perks or even making a bit of a living out of it who cares. Ya just never know, I'd do it.

  • You could think of it as a platform to raise awareness for your cause, rather than to “build a personal brand”.

You mentioned your maltodextrin…so before you become a brand ambassador(!) could you detail your DIY fuelling strategy/products?

  • I used to use them a fair amount but I spent a bit of time researching and realised using plain maltodextrin with squash was a far cheaper alternative. Their goenergy is basically this but made better than i do it at home.

I mean if they share some of my content and help raise awareness of my challenge then that would be amazing. The reason why I'm riding will never change and after this challenge will end I want to continue to push this

  • 2x 750ml bottles - 80ishgrams of maltodextrin in each, dash of sea salt, dash of losalt and then either peach squash or lemon juice for flavour. I half fill the bottles with water as you need to shake it well to get a decent mix, then fill up with the rest of water once mixed.

I find this works for me for 100km but that's doing it in around 3 hours 20ish

  • Depends on the conditions - what they want you to do. Do you actually like SIS, for a start?

While you have a contact there though, I'd love them to stop SMS spamming me. That would be neat.
