  • "Boiled" is a bit subjective thing and it's possible the icon of contemporary design that mixes pop and postmodern styles produces enough steam for the fascinating mythological and futuristic creature - something in between a dragon and a flying dinosaur - to whistle at an earlier point than the as stylish as it is functional Dualit has enough to steam pressure to switch off.

  • One of the female spring clips on a Siemens integrated microwave surround is broken. I know little about integrated items and can't find anything similar online. Do replacements for these exist, anyone know if this style has a name?

  • If it is a Siemens part it should have an E number. Put that into their website and they have exploded diagrams with all the parts and numbers. They will often sell you a replacement bit of you can find others with compatible parts based on the number.

  • I need a cheap microwave to see me through until Feb (existing built in aeg one has given up the ghost and renovating house in Feb) suggestions?

    Wait until BF?

  • Thanks for the nudge in the right direction. Found the part but unsurprisingly for quite an old microwave, no stock. Looks like a store in Russia may be the only source, I think I'll find a workaround!

  • If you're in London and can get to forest hill, we have one which we won't need temporarily as new house has one built in - but we don't want to get rid as we might do the kitchen at some point and would maybe use it then.

You'd be welcome to borrow for months, would be helpful having it out the way?

  • I’m thinking about getting a juicer. Any recommendations?

  • That’s a very kind offer and if I was halfway local I’d gladly take you up! Cheers though very much appreciated

  • No, but on the same note I keep thinking about juicing. I used to have a juicer which was big, noisy, and ate itself eventually. Always found there was quite a lot of juice left in the pulp which could be extracted by squeezing in a muslin. Now I have a perfectly good food processor so I'm thinking of some kind of seive/press that could also be used for paneer and tofu making would be best but I've not managed to find much that fits the bill.

  • Anyone know if I really need installation as an extra cost when buying a fridge freezer?

It’s not plumbed, and I don’t need an old one taking away - so I guess it’s just a question of whether the delivery people will take it through to the kitchen if I don’t pay for installation? Probably buying from AO…

  • Bought a fridge freezer from AO didnt pay for installation but they did carry it into kitchen no questions.

I did have to unbox and plug in mind.

  • Some companies are still doing the "pandemic says kerbside if you're not paying for installation".

You won't know until they turn up though.

  • Hmmm - so I have to hope I get the cake service yet there’s a risk….

Will mull it over. £30 seems a lot for it to just be dragged into the kitchen but maybe that is the only safe option

  • For dishwasher I got elerly relative and pregnant friend to answer door.

But then I have few morals.

  • Worst case chuck them a 20 quid note.

  • For dishwasher I got elerly relative and pregnant friend to answer door.

    This would do it :D

  • Hmmm other half is visibly pregnant... Not likely to be here when the delivery comes though, which is annoying

  • Pillow up your jumper?

  • We need a cooker. Keen on induction. Also keen on black friday sales because I'm not keen on spending too much money. Anyone done the research recently and have suggestions?

  • Anyone know how to fix/replace the timer beeper on a Hotpoint EW38P oven?

  • I timed it so it was her who took the delivery and it was duly wheeled into the kitchen...

(AO also offer that as standard apparently so maybe unnecessary).

Next step dishwasher - any recommendations?

  • An OT recommended a Robot Coupe R2 for one of my clients... I've been trying to get him a discounted one from the Aus office over the last couple of days, now I want one!!

    Such a butch food processor...

  • Bosch SMV68ND00G.

It’s the one we went for, 5y warranty, snazzy projected floor display, has a cutlery drawer, cleans very well, and is super efficient.

Not super budget, but not Miele prices.

  • Interesting, ta - I was slightly put off Bosch as I'd read a review that suggested they were relatively noisy; is that fair do you reckon?

  • Varies by the model. On eco or fast mode it’s audible, on silent mode it’s very quiet.

And if you put something rattley inside, it sounds like a bag of spanners. But that’s the same for most dishwashers I think.
