Do Elica or Bora do one?
AEG or Samsung? -

Im really glad you're going through the process, so I can use your experience :)

AEG: 36cm wide, wok burner is 4.5kw, not 6kw like the others.
Samsung: Nice induction hobs with 'virtual flame' indicator which is cool. No domino hobs/good gas options
Elica: No, mostly built in extractor cooktops.
Bora: No gas wok burner, other than an induction one. Also same or more in cost than Gaggenau -

I really like our F&P smart zone induction one but I am biased

Strong recommendation for knobs over touch controls for induction hobs - when splattered with liquid and stuff the touch controls are awful.
-
• #332
I haven’t found this to be the case very often, mainly because induction is so much more responsive and even in the spread of heat - so pans rarely boil over. Also my neff hob has a control lock so you can quickly wipe up a spill and then normal service is resumed.

I second this and feel very attacked by DJ saying my pans boiling over is my fault.
-
• #334
You know pans should not be more than 2/3 full?
And yes, it is my fault if a pan I am cooking boils over. But I guess it’s the fault of the hob in your household. :-)

Thinking of it my pans actually rarely boil over but I do struggle with an unresponsive touch panel on the regular. I think it's condensation dripping off a lid and small spills here and there.

Oil splatters from frying was the issue I had most often. Yes, I'm not very careful and often not sober in the kitchen, but it's much easier to give a knob a quick tweak than stabbing in vain at a general area and not getting a response.

LOLLLLLL

Performance is pretty variable with different hobs too. The Bosch one I had previously was rubbish, the AEG one I have now works fine apart from when I boil the pans over (boost and not paying attention).

What was the concensus on a tumble dryer in the garage? Heat pump, condenser, vented?
-
• #340
Ended up going for a Smeg 90cm mixed fuel wok burner / induction.
Also a Luxair Lusso 90cm chimney hood with baffle filters and the most powerful motor I could find.3 x domino hobs would have been nice, but was starting to be complicated on deciding how to fit into the kitchen (revised to a 900mm base unit from 1000mm) and all domino options I would find were at least 25% more expensive and some were back ordered.
Also sourced a mint condition Miele plumbed in steam combi oven and microwave combi oven.
AEG built in fridge freezer, a Bosch build on dishwasher.
Just a freestanding heat pump tumble dryer to find.

Condenser is what manufacturers recommend (or at least heatpumps will not recommend below 10°c). They are also cheap, DIY repairable and don't require any drilling holes in walls either.
However, they are less efficient and people like soul are using heatpumps in uninsulated garages with no problems

Also in case you didn't know pretty much all condensers can have the water tank bypassed so they can drain to a drain if you have access to one.
I just empty ours when it's full. The water is quite useful for blueberries and making children's bubble mixture if you live in a hard water area.

I have a heatpump drier which is plumbed in to the drain.
We were mainly swayed by the energy efficiency compared to condenser (8 stars vs 2)

Anyone know where I can get a massive deep sink for a utility room?
Can’t seem to find any in the uk.Example from in-laws in France, it is 73cm wide, 60cm deep and 33cm depth.
This is too big for us, but wanting something maybe 60x50x30.
Belfast sinks seem to be too shallow.

Bingo! Thanks.
Now to try and find similar for a bit less money…Useful for washing shoes/boots, toys, bike parts.

So kitchen is being fitted next week, and after some changes, things have escalated somewhat.
Going to go pick up a set of Gaggenau steam combi oven, pyrolytic oven, warming drawer, teppanyaki grill and induction hob. (albeit second hand from someone replacing)So now have to sell on a Miele steam combi, AEG pyrolytic oven, and a for parts Miele microwave.
I feel like I should be joining a golf club, but with second hand clubs.

teppanyaki grill
How come?
Genuine want or part of the bundle?
-
• #349
Part of the bundle.
I like the idea of a teppanyaki plate though, we use one fairly often for Korean BBQs, though usually a moveable one that sits in the middle of the dining table. Also the Gaggenau teppanyaki plate and induction hob need a custom trim, as the control dials are set into the front of the kitchen units, rather than on the top, so wont be able to get it to fit.
Pretty cool though:
I'll probably sell them on, unless I make some kind of outdoor kitchen?

Might try and make a DIY housing for it, and keep it as a plug in (2300w max) extra cooking surface.
Maybe using a wooden worktop offcut or a kitchen trolley.
Thanks all. I already have a vast selection of cast iron casseroles, cast iron frying pans and black steel frying pans from restaurant supply stores (totally the best place to buy.
I just need some non ALU saucepans for boiling veg and, you know, sauces...
Will hunt around for the various recommendations and see whats on offer.
