The grill
Used to love my eye level gas grill. These days I'm guessing only oligarchs have them.
I could buy one but running it would break me.

I’d rather not wait 20 minutes for toast.

Had to strip one of those the other day, thank fuck my old man was there as it was a challenge.

Loved mine. Used to be the main heating for the flat some days.

wait 20 minutes for toast
3 mins for the first side, 2:30 for the second; does up to 12 slices in under 6 minutes and occupies zero worktop space.

what was the toaster user @rippertong had?

Been recommended Dualit and Rowlett on the Toaster Thread

• #1013
I've had a saved search for ages on eBay for the Rowlett 2 slot, as they have stopped making it a whole ago. I think I may just have to stump up for the 4 slot though

Need an Induction Hob but budget is max £500 - best to go for lower end Neff/Bosch or midrange Zanussi/Hotpoint with more bells and/or whistles?

I need to start thinking about replacing our old (2nd hand) Bosch washer dryer.
(No space for separate machines)
Is there a forum go to for this sort of thing?Dryer only gets used for towels and bed sheets so no need to be industrial.l on that front.

I'd look at the neff/AEG/johnlewis options.

I would probably get something like this:

Interesting thanks - hadn't figured on ex-display stuff coming in that much cheaper. I'm still a little lost on what in terms of experience changes on high-end hobs vs lower end stuff, reliability/warranty aside.

I got an AEG a couple of years ago. Very happy with it

When I was looking a while ago and nothing from the main manufacturers was in stock IKEA induction hobs were reasonably well reviewed by Which - think they got a best buy. I eventually went for neff to match other appliances but still awaiting delivery 2 months later. Maybe worth a look?

And @stappard
My John Lewis is an AEG, I actually found the equivalent models at the time I was buying, the JL was cheaper by £50.
I really like that all four burners have the same output and the power boost is possible on all four burners (only 2 at a time though).
I recommend finding out what features are available on the different hobs and work out which you want.
Power boost, combining two burners and equal power in all 4 rings were what I was after.

I think that sounds like a sensible feature set - coming from gas so essentially no features at all. Zanussi and AEG seem to be the same products also - though I have no idea whether the similarity is only skin deep.
There's something appealingly middle-class normcore about having John Lewis written on the hob.

My AEG sounds very similar to that, that's the criteria I had two.
There were deals on installation too which changed what was the best price, and finding something that was actually in stock.
Mine replaced a crappy Bosch ceramic one which had a terrible touchpad so I was willing to spend a bit more to get something that actually registered me pressing the buttons.
I also wanted a separate touch area for each burner rather than having to select a burner and then change the power.

Mine replaced an antique electric one that took forever to heat up and burnt everything. I fitted it myself, only three wires to terminate.
Separate controls for each burner was important to me, and control to the front not the side.
When the layout of buttons, the font and the LEDs were the same as well as the specification and country of origin I was pretty sure they were the same thing.
The dream hob is something like the Miele

We’ve gone for the 80cm version - the full surface thing is a nice feature rather than a game changer imo
What’s the toaster of choice here?
