    Classic new page fail

  • I plan to hang on for hopefully about 10 minutes and then have a nice easy spin for an hour enjoying the scenery

  • You joining?

  • A+: 4.6w/kg FTP, 300w FTP or higher.
    A: 4.02w/kg FTP or higher.
    Cat B: 3.2w/kg to 4.0w/kg FTP.
    Cat C: 2.5w/kg to 3.2w/kg FTP.
    Cat D: Under 2.5w/kg FTP.

    There's a loophole if you're a lightweight where you can have higher w/kg as long as you are under power (250 for B, 200 for C, etc.).

    For the TTT though the teams are categorised based on the number of riders in each grade. So if you have even 1 A grader you are bumped up a class, etc. The classes have stupid coffee based names with the lower the milk content the faster the teams.

  • Well that was highly motivational. Got blasted within 20 mins, as soon as it hit 4.5-5 W/kg I was off the back.

    Frustratingly my other half had managed to lock zwift from the laptop so had to connect on my phone and therefore no companion app. Couldn’t turn around to join on once you guys were back to ‘easy’ pace.

    Will be back next week to see if I can hang on for 30 mins

  • Does it still work on power to weight when it's flat?

  • Hey Luke. Apologies for that, I’d assumed we could u-turn to make it easy to regroup. Alas that button seems to be missing on a meet-up.

    I’ll have a look at another route option that has much shorter laps and therefore it’ll be quick to get back together.

  • Not sure. Strava suggests I was at about 325w when I stopped pedalling as I know I’m unlikely to hold that for 10 mins

  • No problem at all. You guys are far stronger than me so it gives me something to aim for.

  • In my experience, on the flats it’s more raw watts that count. So if you’re doing 300w at 4w/kg and I’m doing 265w at 4w/kg you’ll be faster. As a relative lightweight, group rides on a flat course are a bit harder as I have to put out higher w/kg to keep up.

    That all changes as the gradient increases though.
