Seen this – and got recommended also from other user here – 1990 colors all the way =)
I got an offer now from Axor for one of these nicely colors, £ 400 – but it is for the bathroom, should be OK though regarding size, they only said a little bit less water power than the kitchen taps. I'll sleep some nights over it and decide, since the work surface top is 'glacier white' and the sink also ('Corian' material and I glue both together to be one piece, wish me luck haha) and the back on the wall will be bright colored terrazzo tiles, so a lightly colored tap would be just perfect.
Today I made the foundation – and some pictures from the other side & building progress:

They all look lovely.

The axor colours probably work better when there's something like terrazzo. But the Vola blue is great.
And really nice cabinets you're building!
Also something to consider kitchen taps plumbed in filters. We have a three way tap and filter, and we love it. -

Blue is really great, bold! Yellow is also my favorite there:

Just received an approved amendment to warrant after we had to combine a few applications plus some detail tweaks into a single warrant application to building standards.
Building Inspector coming out of Friday. So, squeaky bum time as we are about to agree exchange on the sale of the place for the 30th Nov.
How strict are these (lovely) people? There was one stipulation of having an insulated loft access door/opening for our new bathroom in the eaves.
We don’t have this and just have some inset “box” shelves that can be removed for access. Is that the type of thing they’ll look for? Literally no clue about this stuff but I don’t know if it’s the type of thing we could fail inspection on (even though there were walls removed, steels, extension etc which feel like a bigger deal)

My two steps forward/one step back quest for a loft conversion is continuing to form.
After having planning permission approved and trying to get in touch with Dan James about getting on with things, I've recently discovered that Dan (who had been my sole contact) has left the company. No idea what the circumstances are, but it's turned up a bunch of stuff about one loft conversion being unfinished after 18(!) months, and general discontent around what I had believed were one of the more reputable companies in the business. Jamie (the remaining partner) has apparently emailed other people to say their projects are on hold due to 'reorganisation', although I haven't been afforded a similar courtesy.
Despite having invested the initial £2k (for which I've at least got the plans) it feels like I've dodged a bullet, but that leaves me with needing to find someone to take it on from here. Unfortunately I'm feeling more apprehensive than ever about the whole thing, and googling potential companies (with the inevitable mixed reviews) isn't helping in the slightest.

Dedicated drawer for bidons erhmagerd.
You built it all by yourself? -

What kind of terrazzo tiles? Maybe take a colour from the "Zuschläge" for the tap?
(I know I am talking to a Germanophone so can get away without googling that one) -

Still no show on carpenter so am taking the 'what's the worst that could happen' approach.
One down and apart from a chunk of blown plaster when I took out the skirting, going ok.
The other is more of a hassle as has some weird scribing around a curved wall but hopefully he's left enough sprayed material for a few attempts.
Once these are done, move radiator (and get new one to replace it), new sockets and wall lights by bed, new bed, new floor (prob carpet), then finally paint (sulking room pink requested).

That's worrying news given how much stuff they do locally. We'd planned on using them again if we got our loft done here.
I assume you know that Pat at Another Level is the other major one round there, he's just done one at a friend's place and they seem happy with it. Going to be busy though I imagine.

I assumed you'd have seen the recent posts on HoL.
Spoke to Pat when I first looked into this a couple of years ago. Said he'd be in touch about coming round to take a look but never got back to me. Will try him again.

You’re no east london right? Bespoke were solid if you are.

Harringay, but I've dropped them a line in case they consider it east enough. Cheers for the recommendation.

Forest Lofts get good reviews round my way, not sure how they would deal with a pre done plan, but worth asking.
-
• #8419
Yes, although a more or less simple method still much work. I made a lot of mistakes but in the end I’m really happy about the progress so far. Basically everything with the table saw and dado blades, and cutouts with the router.
My wife found these with ‘real’ terrazzo tiles, something light colored with small color pieces - not sure yet. Only minimum order quantity we need I guess. But will take some weeks as I see now. Ordering samples, open for input or other vendors!

We had a building inspector round, beam looks fine, just needs painting and fire boarding. Feeling a bit better about it but we'll still need to do something about a small lintel to the wall holding the stairs up

No wozza.
I miss them being here, absolute lads and total pros.
@cjr +1 on forest lofts too, think they are a step above bespoke and price reflects that.
Fwiw a lot of the loft companies use the same guy for plans and his plans are near worthless - just used to get planning permission. They hold zero value when it comes to actual build. -

Not been on there for a while, seen them now. Doesn't sound good.

Urgh, building inspector came round and is insisting we make some serious changes to our extension door setup which is currently double door outward opening with two deep steps.
He is saying that for outward opening doors there needs to be a 900mm platform at internal floor level which leads to steps (which would make walking along our patio impossible). If we don't do that we need to change our doors to inwards opening and tweak the riser height. Rang builder, builder goes mental. No idea how I am going to turn this around in the same month we're going to be selling the place.
Absolute balls.
-
• #8424
Just bang together a wooden platform?
-
• #8425
Exactly my thought but that would mean making the pathway to the patio completely blocked as we would then have 900mm set of steps coming off that.
Builders suggestion was initially to do that but he's convinced that BC will see it at a temp solution just to get the cert and would start to unpick it or ask for all kinds of drawings and specs on it. So, we're now flipping the doors, absolute arse.
When you're considering one for 800, why not make it a nice even number?
My kitchen tap is second hand and cost 100€, but it's silver.
