I’ll dig some out. They’ll probably have my nan or the dog in. They’re pretty basic looking but according to the info above they’re about 1/7th the price of fancy pivot ones, ygwypf.

Slightly weirdly mine came without external handles, so you can’t close them behind you and then open again from outside without a bit of faff. I didn’t check whether that was something I could have specified, I guess so, but I foolishly just assumed you got handles both sides. I’m going to cut some little recessed cups in one day.

That’s most of the windows in, including windows replacing garage door - Sliding doors going in on Monday. First fix electrics also done this week too.
We’ve also heard back from planning regarding the rest of the windows on the front and so can get these ordered and hopefully fitted before end of phase 1.

Also rather annoyingly the lining and insulation in one of the loft spaces is pretty shit. I’ve only been up there once but a little annoyed this wasn’t picked up in survey. Hey ho we will have to put new insulation and lining in.
We’ve also updated most of the old electrics that weren’t part of the work and replacing switches and sockets with new ones whilst we’re there.

We had wanted a new front door with a larger glass panel but this has been refused by the council. We’re now thinking to just save money here and paint the existing to match the rest of the windows. No sweet, sweet Banham door furniture now though 🥲

What switches did you end up with? I just replaced a broken Dowsing and Reynolds with a Knightsbridge as recommended by someone somewhere on here and they were 90% the same parts but a fraction of the cost. Prob going to stick with Knightsbridge.

Didn't even notice the screw less version, argh, prob 99% the same as Dowsing and Reynolds then.
Their dimmers are not as nice so cheekily trying to get just a bunch of knobs from D&R, which is ironic as I'm more likely to find them here! BOOM BOOM!

Tbh the screwless are a bit finicky as they have a clear plastic border that needs calked around.

Knobs abound. I’m hiding Shelly wifi dimmers behind my rocker switches.

Yeah I actually don't mind the screws, especially on the toggle rather than switch as they are a bit more old school vibe anyway.

UFH in bathrooms - who has it? Do I need it?

Also we have stainless finishes in the bathroom but cant find a nice brushed stainless towel radiator for sub £300- but screwfix do a cheap white one. Is that mad?

Has anyone got any ideas on how to sort out my very run down victorian staircase? They have been repaired by previous owners by putting brackets on the treads and batons nailed to the strings on the underside of the treads but the brackets have failed and everything is pretty unstable. By the looks of it the main issue is that the open string side has bowed outwards and pulled the treads out of the string attached to the wall, hence the need for the battons.

I've had a couple of people look at it, one carpenter said he would replace all the treads with MDF but retain spindles and bullnose details for what seemed like a reasonable price to me where as another guy who specifically does stair repairs said they are way beyond what he would take on as a project.

The second opinion has made me nervous of the first approach. I feel like he might just rip it all apart and find the strings are too distorted to take the new treads and walk away...

Anyone got any experience of similar or know some good tradespeople to talk to? I'm in SW18.

We went with (not quite so cheap) white after struggling with finish matching. Don't know why I didn't go straight to white, was very happy with it just disappearing into the white wall. We had UFH too, but it was a sort of wet room so helped with keeping the floor dry.

Had it at our old place - but it was a downstairs bathroom, extended from the kitchen, which also had UFH.

It doesn't seem to make sense to have it, as bathrooms are occasional rooms, whereas UFH is an always on heating system.

If you want warm, bathrooms when you bathe / shower, just have a big towel radiator teed off the the hot water.

It feels great underfoot on a cold day. Any reason why you wouldn't want it? Maybe if the insulation is so good that the floor always feels warm?

Ours is electric and separately timed to our CH, which is really annoying. The bathroom has a towel radiator too, but it's no big enough to heat the room. I think the intention of the design was that the UFH heats the room, the towel rad just does the towels.

Thought the point of this thread was to stop people clogging the homeowners thread with building stuff as it is intended more at the financial aspect of owning a home and I've got no intention of tackling this myself even as a reasonably competent DIYer?

Not a towel radiator but I do have this towel rail bnib plus matching valves which was surplus to my requirements and I'd take a reasonable offer on if you're interested?
