  • @Tenderloin 500mm door is jokes. 600 is bad, but 500 would annoy me every time.

  • Yeah think I will manage on my own from here

  • Sorry for all you've had to endure here. Sounds like a bunch of rogues.
I'm supposed to be starting our kitchen soon but your tales of ineptitude have put me right off :)

  • most of the photos and horrors in one google drive link

the hall light breaking is one thing I can pin on them. It tripping the meter of the flat below, causing their macerator to fill up and flood the flat below is harder. One of them - not directly their fault - but wouldn't have happened if they weren't incompetent.

Going to ask for a fair bit back

  • If I can take a positive and pass on any advice - really reference whoever you choose. Google them. Look at reviews. Google them with the word 'SCAM' at the end. Ask to speak to their last 2 clients and ask questions like 'would you hire them again'?

  • Not foolproof but I tend to check out companies house and see how long they've been trading for, if people related to the company have been churning ltds etc as well.

  • Shit stuff for sure, but you’ll sort it. Get the bits and bobs fixed, negotiate the money as best you can without ruining your every waking moment and get on with enjoying your killer new joint. The horrid memories will soon fade.

  • Another hole appears!

  • Exciting - proper building site there - very tidy. I assume you are camping in the garden ?

  • Yeah we had an old yurt - so erected that in the back garden.

  • Very cool, and looks Instagram tidy!

Where does one store an old yurt?

  • My kids nursery has a tile floor on concrete. I need to lay something on the tile (cba taking it up) to insulate noise from below and make it more friendly. Forbo marmoleum seems right but has anyone laid this on tiles? Or got alternative suggestion? I should and will email them to ask.

  • The sheet lino needs to go on a perfectly smooth sub floor so you’d need to self level screed over the tile. The click system would be the one to look at I think

  • Has anyone installed or used a steam shower cubicle? Are they any good or a complete waste of time?

  • Ah yes I forgot to be specific thanks for pointing that out.

  • I said I was trying Brootzo. The lights arrived, they are great, but one is the wrong metal and they are being awful about sending out the right one. Hard avoid, even though they’re v good value for money, not worth the bother.

  • Bathroom refurb now complete! Thanks @owl for recommending J he was a pleasure to work with and super tidy!

    Little before/after to celebrate:

  • Looks handsome! UFH?

  • Looks great, you are not S/SE are you? i’m after a bathroom person to do mine.

  • Yeah, electric, thermostat hidden in the understairs cupboard. As the room is so small I thought having a single towel rail rather than rad would help make it feel more spacious/less cluttered.

Another thing I'm happy I did is hide a double toothbrush charger inside the mirror cabinet.

  • I am, pinged me a message

  • Very nice. Could you send me the details too?

  • Looks great man! Really pleased you were pleased with Joaquim.

  • We're about to embark on our own kitchen project. It's the tiniest galley kitchen known to man. 2m long by 1.8m wide. Have gone for gloss white IKEA Metod. The only thing we really splashed out on was the range cooker. Took 7 months from ordering to it arriving in the UK but was worth the wait I reckon.
