They’re utter cunts.
We even got letters urging us to engage some bullshit firm as party wall surveyors to protect us from our own fucking planning application lol
The worst party wall surveyor I ever came across tried to claim four times the fee the third surveyor ended up awarding him having not even agreed the award by that point. They had even managed to convince the adjoining owner who engaged them to be on the hook for some of it. Needless to say they had previously been in front of a judge for the same thing.

Have you considered floating the concept of competitive extractor pimping to Richard Osman?

ugh, as part of our bathroom reno we're having a single glaze window blocked up and a bigger velux put in instead. The builders have taken the old window out and found out is was being held up by hopes and dreams. There was nothing below the window other than some rubble.
The rafters need doubling and a stud wall added in to be strong enough to hold the velux

They’re utter cunts.
The fact they called their professional organisation "The Pyramus & Thisbe Society" tells you everything you need to know.

We had Party Wall letters to our house when next door were building a home office in their garden. Not even touching the property border; never mind any walls.

Doesn't have to touch the border or walls to fall under the Party Wall Act...
"
2. What does the Act cover?
...- Excavation within 3 or 6 metres of a neighbouring building(s) or structure(s), depending on the depth of the hole or proposed foundations (see paragraphs 28 to 30).

They’re still ambulance chasing shysters.

Top right needs a false door nob.
Really nice!

Apparently that's only if they're digging down further than the foundations of the neighbouring property or it requires underpinning - would have to be a whopping great garden office for that to be relevant.

Lovely.
I'm a goldfish. Remind me - is this DIY or trade? -

Trade by FiL

Lovely, as someone living in a new build with fuck all cupboards I'm very jealous.
We've just spent 3 hours with the guy that designed our kitchen going over different storage designs for the house. Bloody stressful business.

Quiet spell in here, is everyone waiting for the budget?
Where does one get quartz worktops? Am I right in thinking that if we went to a specialist, we might save money on prices from Magnet etc? I've seen praise for Imperial Granite and Marble, do they also do cutting, drainage grooves, etc if you give them measurements?

Imperial Marble and Granite Bellingham.
don’t let the ‘old man’ give you a price it’s the son you need to speak to. -

Roman Stone in Argall Way industrial estate, Leyton.
They supply worktops on behalf of a lot of the online places, and are very amenable to cash deals on the spot. We paid around half the cheapest online quote for our quartz worktops by walking in, slapping cash on the counter and haggling.

We're not in London any more - are places like these good enough value to warrant a trip down, or are they a sign that as a general rule if you find a local specialist supplier you'll get a better deal?

Also, who's got a Quooker 4 in 1?
Is it worth it? I boil a lot of water, buy a lot of sparkling water, and use a Brita filter for pretty much everything we boil or drink because the water round here doesn't taste great, so I think I'm their target customer.

We love ours.
Worth noting that it’s best to have a water softener installed at the same time if you don’t already have one otherwise they have issues with hard water after a while.

• #11698
Has anyone seen a 3(4?)way tap that does
Softened hot and cold
Hard bypass for drinking
SparklingDon't need/want/have space for boiling - which is all any search for 4 way tap brings up.

Yes, water softener is a must if your in a hard water area…..

Grim.
It looks like Quooker do their own water softener which would hopefully fit into the entire kitchen cabinet that the rest of the bits require.
looks great
