  • Anyone got door handle suggestions for a 1930s 4 panel door. Will have roller catches so doesn't need to turn.

    Cheers.

  • Had to double check when I saw the price then noticed it was for a Set of 6 so bargains all round really

  • £710 per handle. What's not to like?

  • I have an alcove that I'll be putting doors across and using as a pantry.

I'm thinking that wire rack shelving might be the best option - it won't pick up too much dust and light will be more able to reach the lower shelves. They are also pretty modular which makes them quite flexible in terms of making the most of the space.

    Any one used something similar?

  • Do you have a system in mind? I have my bike and DIY stuff on some, pretty sturdy but fixed footprint. Only annoyance I find is the edges/corners of boxes catch on the wires, but less of an issue if you're not always reaching for things across piles of other things...
Can't remember where mine came from but pretty sure one of the usual B&Q/Homebase/Wickes type and it's very solid (as in sturdy, not actually solid).

  • Kitchen is finished. Pretty happy with the result. Not so happy with the price but it's fucking London innit.

Thanks to whoever threw some answers at me to whatever stupid questions I asked. Let us never speak of renovations again.

  • No system in particular. Can you post a pic?

  • @ectoplasmosis

Yes, the roof is that wonky

  • I see you're a fan of bright colours

  • Bet you could have had a couple sworks for that!

  • You should see the ceiling in my kitchen… and that’s after the builders re-plasterboarded it!

  • White for everything. It's the only way.

The middle was going to be one piece of aluminium but we went cheap and painted it and put a glass splashback over the oven.

  • Have you seen how much S-Works bikes are? Probs just the one.

  • All they did here was remove the artex or whatever that rough shit is and smooth it over and paint. Maybe I should've also specified "and make it fucking straight" too

  • Oh anyone looking for about 1m of kitchen top? We had to buy a 4m piece because the kitchen top needed to be 3.05m or some shit so have almost a metre of unused kitchen top someone could use for a side or a workshop or some other bench dealio.

  • Found these on etsy. Thinking about using them for my kitchen cabinets as I really like the shape.. I see they are made of zinc alloy - is there a risk they will be brittle/snap? Or fade with use over time?

  • These don't look like they'd be very ergonomic to actually pull... maybe buy a single one to test?

  • Wetroom floor tiles, anyone been there?

I'm hesitant to moasic ones aa suggested becuse i want to avoid more grout.

  • As big as possible, I guess.

  • I was gonna use 70mm square encaustic tiles for our ‘wet room’ shower floor, to match the walls, but decided to get a composite stone shower tray instead because I just can’t be fucked having to maintain the tiles and grout forever more.

The ‘stone’ tray feels so much nicer underfoot too.

  • Taking of showers, just had the shower glass installed and the whole bathroom sealed, finally… after weeks of no shower and having to bathe on tenterhooks to avoid water pouring through cracks.

I fucked up the glass measurement slightly, so there’s a ~5mm overhang, which I’m going to have to sedate myself into living with.

  • I thought avout a stone tray but its a weird shape so a bit difficult. Though on reflection might have been easier - heinsight is wondeful.
Ive been advised agaisnt using a large porcelain tile as it will be 'slippy' but to use a moasic, grout means grip i gues.

Ill put 60x60 or 120x60 on the wall
