Watched this not that long ago. With my last tarmac nap fresh in the memory I like you would rather be safe :)

16 year old tyres
Definitely.
Any thoughts on what you'll put on?
-

Agreed. For sunny weekends and the occasional track day thinking Bridgestone S22.

Breaking news: SRAD leaves garage under own power. After all the tinkering over the winter the bike's in much better shape and passed its first MOT under my ownership with no advisories. That's what we like

Nice!!

Very nice. The tail on these is so sexy. They look sick when there is a rider crouched down on them. It just follows the contours perfectly. 750 is the boy as well from everything I read, only ever see 600s around though.

Knew I'd seen this image not that long ago, from a recent issue of Practical Sportsbikes.

Oh yeah. Loved that graphic as well but I always preferred the big orange CC over the SRAD logo.

After a year of searching I found a period Yoshimura RS3 for the SRAD. Think I'm getting old, it's a lot louder. Just need to make a custom hanger to finish it off.

I know nothing about motorbikes but your SRAD is RAD

As much as I'd like one, starting to think there's not much need for a tool wall. For the last 3 birthdays I've asked for Halfords vouchers and we're slowly getting there tool wise.

Great stickers too

Can I come up there and fawn over it? I’ll bring its fellow Suzuki.

Always welcome, I've been meaning to dedicate a drawer to biscuits anyway.

If you've got space for a roller cabinet I think it's probably better than a tool wall.
A section of those little hanging bin things is good for nuts and bolts though.
I'm probably going to have a wall of pegboard, because although I made my bench to have a roller cab underneath I think I need the space for other stuff and I want to try and reclaim a bit of floor space to move.
The aim is to try to keep the peg board relatively clear with just awkward stuff like hammers, levels and a screwdriver set. But we'll see.

True that. It's not a massive garage so resisting the urge to store loads is half the battle. Great shout on those wall mounted storage tubs, that would mean I can finally sort through my tins of miscellaneous nuts/bolts and get everything labelled and visible.
Utilising the storage under the workbench like you're doing will free up a lot of floor space. If there's a dedicated thread for progress point me to it!

dedicated thread
Just the odd post in the diy thread. It's taking forever.
Now the structure of the bench is built including one shelf underneath I feel like there's light at the end of the tunnel, so maybe I should start a thread.
This is the current state of play:
I so wish I'd have sorted the storage before I filled it, but at the time that wasn't really an option.
This is how I used to have it when we first moved in:

Despite rebuilding my calipers (again) seems they're still not feeling great so decided to check the disc runout. 0.30mm is the limit and we're seeing 1.75 and 0.75, think that'll be it!

Could some of that be float on the rotor though?
-
• #247
Good point. I'll check my manual but presume the 0.30mm acceptable runout accounts for the semi-floating discs. Not exactly scientific, but fairly confident I can see the wobble by eye. Spinning the wheel by hand with no brake pressure causes resistance on the pads which also makes me think the discs are shagged.
-
• #248
Yeah that's fair. I have had some floating rotors that have rattled though so it would make checking to see if they were warped very awkward.
-
• #249
Glad you made me question this, thankfully the service manual confirms measuring it on the wheel. I'm actually glad the discs are warped, hopefully means I've found the issue 🤞 Got to love an old fashioned comprehensive paper manual

New EBC discs which aren't warped should definitely help things. Having said that the front wheel is still binding despite new master cylinder, lines, calipers (rebuilt twice with plenty grease) and seals. All out of ideas with this one, for now.

Not that I would, but just saying!
