COVID-19 vaccines

Has anyone had bad side effects on second AZ after having no effects from first dose? Feel like am unlikely to get away with having an easy time twice (had literally no side effects whatsoever), but obviously there's no logic to this belief.

Also for South London people, according to local whatsapp group, Montgomery Hall opposite Oval Cricket Ground is doing walk-in jabs for anyone over 30 today.

The data is a little inconsistent- and certainly wrt severe side effects, we don't have the numbers in the 'right' demographics just yet.
In terms of mild side effects- anecdotally AZ2 is better received than AZ1, regardless of reaction or no to AZ1. Conversely PB2 is more severe than PB1, in terms of systemic response (ie fever, malaise).

Again- this is anecdotal, though the CDC, Gov.uk, and other resources seem to show similar themes.

Wonder how much is a real reaction and how much is in the head. Were there placebo trials of the vaccines.

How much of the increased response is caused the increased gap between between PB shots.

GIven how ill AZ has made quite a few people I know, I think it's very much non-in head/placebo reaction.
And there were definitely placebo trials, but I'll leave it to someone medical to answer it better than me.

This is some actual data from trials and research. Second dose AZ vaccine isn't included as there isn't enough evidence yet.

I had my first AZ yesterday morning at 9am, felt absolutely fine, walked home, did a days work, spent an hour in the gym, came home and started feeling very sleepy. Was in bed by 10, wearing at-shirt, jogging bottoms and hoody with the hood pulled up. This is my usual reaction to a fever because I’m an idiot - girlfriend came in with some paracetamol an hour or so later and my temperature normalised more or less.

It did feel incredibly similar to when I came down with Mystery Illness in Feb/March last year that put me on my arse for two weeks.

I feel a little washed out this morning but I have not had my breakfast yet.

Interestingly I'm also (today) getting the exact same 4pm shut-down that I did when I was ill last year, where all my energy seems to vanish at this time of day and my ability to think slows right down.

I had mine yesterday too, a couple of hours after you. And I had pretty much the same experience. Felt like I had a hangover in the morning. But, all fine now.

I had mine a few weeks ago at approx 4pm. Went for a run, had a few pints and then froze to death drinking outside followed by 24hrs of fever and achy glands, particularly in crotch. Very sweaty night the following night then woke up absolutely normal.

Freshers Week?

Had my first jab of AZ on Wednesday at about 16:00. No side effects apart from a slightly sore arm the next day.

Even in this thread there has been a wide differential of after effects that people/and people they know have had to either vaccine.

Nothing more than my constant amazement of the placebo/nocebo effects.

Not sure how to glean information from that data that isn't any different to any other study of a medicine trial.

Had my AZ vaccine at 11am on Wednesday morning, felt a bit rough Wednesday night with chills etc. Woke upon Thursday morning feeling like I had a hangover and slightly sore arm. Took a paracetamol in the morning, and was fine by Thursday evening. Friday woke up with no side effects at all and arm not sore at all.

Overall, if what I had is the price for everything getting back to normal, it's a very small price to pay.

I did before, but then my morbid curiosity got the better of me and I cleared my ignore list.

Lesson learned.

In every ignore list, there are some real keepers. I find the quotes from others are enough to persuade me that there is nothing to be gained from hitting the unignore button. Other than tooth-grinding annoyance.
