I also wondered why he was on his phone so much when driving a motor vehicle, that riding a bike would be a noticable difference.

I’m told.

Bit late to the party but the Varg2™ track on that playlist is a banger.

all this combined with a good playlist... a wonderful escape from wider life
I had this hard a couple years ago going round the new forest, listening to everything I’d liked on spotify, an overnight camp to myself. Actual bliss

@ltc it’s good! He’s good, right amount of hook and repetition I think
@stelfox yesss, honestly makes it so much better and adds to the kind of, ethereal feeling of a good secluded environment, like an organ in a cathedral
Went to see @velosaurus about the bike gears.
Knowing I’d be riding the homer I set off in good time, especially after previous comments of the bikes road feel. It’s not far, 8? Miles or so? I spent most the ride over there thinking about what bits I’m clearing out my wardrobe and buying a new jacket (think what i want is something you would have seen on like........a struggaling boutique website in 2013, dying breaths of goth ninja, the early days of techwear, balenciaga and vetements were just being talked about) , there was a headwind the whole way which sucked but I was powered by a jam and pb fold over.
to my surprise I arrived early and VS was just coming round the corner shocked I was here already, awkwardly, as I now looked a little too keen and pushy for his offer to look at my gears, I tried to explain:
“Honestly I left with plenty of time due to big bike telling me road bikes are for roads and mountain bike tyres have no place there, combined with the CDA of my flat bars I was expecting to to arrive later this Evening!!...”
He was too nice tho, finished up and got looking.
I was promptly informed “nothing wrong here, seems fine?” I felt a bit embarrassed thinking surely I’d fucked up here, turns out that’s just gears. Something to make the handful of remaining fixed and single speed riders here happy.
In the end we had a nice cup of tea and talked bike, VS had a go on the homer, which albeit was too small, he endorsed anyway, stating it’s motivated him to build a similarly outdated and UNRIDABLE STEEP HEAD ANGLE frame he was debating. After which I headed home, which was shockingly fast with no head wind.
Good afternoon, bikes are good, hate that janny h’ is always right.

Thank you for waiting and apologies for the slight delay whilst bundled neighbour off to the jab clinic so they could stick the left overs in her arm.
The bike is as good as it looks. Fun to ride as well. The gothic detailing on the frame really does make it. It is quite a work of art really. Couldnt fault the gears. MTB wider ratios are always a bit more clunky but this was indexing perfectly.
Good you left when did as 10 minutes later this pantomime appeared going door to door with her entourage wearing their bulky bulky jackets. I felt like shouting "where is your f***** magic money tree now then" but instead made sure I was out walking with some neighbours.

She (edit: Theresa May) canvasses this road every couple years or so. I try to go out before she gets to me or just not answer the door.

why is crust brexit riv? I generally use the adjective Brexit for something homegrown and sycophantic. e.g. Hope is Brexit Chris King.

• #745
Aren’t we all hoping Bob Jackson will become Brexit Crust?
-
• #746
a brexit version of something is where you want one thing but can’t get it due to one reason or another, be it cost or availability. The end result usually inspires something aesthetically less elegant and ornate, but with the same vibe and sense of purpose.
Maybe next we will do the boutique gravel iceberg model to explain why Rivendell is above crust in the “absolutely deranged world of gravel hipsters”
@cheekysnaker if zombie Bob Jackson starts making 650b 43c world tours I would break my 2 bike rule

This is one of my favourite songs of all time. Was meant to see Varg last year but got cancelled due to that pesky pandemic.
The bike looks great by the way, absolutely mental but loads of fun.

Gross. I've got a mate who must live near you, he's invited Theresa and her goons in for a cup of tea and a chat to waste as much of their time as possible before.
that hum sounds like some fast XC tyres on road going downhill
