i LOVE having a reason to constantly stop, and i LOVE EVEN MORE having a reason to make others stop
sweep stake on if my fork has the right psi, results tomorrow

Now order one of these, just to be sure

Use the markings on the fork leg to get around 20% sag. Pump up the fork and stand on the bike in the “attack” position with out bouncing around until the o-ring is sitting in the right spot.
Too much sag = more pressure
Too little sag = less pressureOh and make sure any damping knobs are full open or at their fastest position.
If the fork feels too stiff at correct sag, you can try lowering the pressure and adding tokens to change the air spring curve
If the fork still feels crap…it might be time for a service

Sounds like at least a 10 minute trailside stop every half hour

also got some of these fox mtb pants to replace my ripped arcterx trousers which are now cut off shorts.
they seemed like the only ones which retained the properties i wanted (quickdry, anatomical cut, stretch and heavily tapered) but looked the most covert/ civilian while also coming in black
they're quite nice!
the main draw however is that they have a cute fox on one leg, and say FOX on the other, equally whimsical
functionally no different, i assume, to other options which maybe were not as steep in cost, but filled the aesthetic niche i wanted. After trying a set of maharishi trousers on sale earlier in the month to do a similar thing which turned out too billowy for OTB, i thought best do go with someone who was designing with bikes in mind.

I won't recognise you with all this mtb gear
Let me know if you go full enduro

I forgot to mention, once you’ve set sag, set your rebound and if you have it, compression damping.
Too much rebound and the fork will extend too slowly and the fork will pack down, too little and it will be like riding a pogo stick!
Not sure if you have compression damping?
-
• #2711
i gotta be honest with you, i only put air in roughly in line with my weight, i have not touched the knobs or set sag,
i think i just have rebound adjust and a lock out switch with like 5 clicks of damping, it's only an old reba

Rode to and from Epping due to the train strikes, fun day, am knackered
The new fox trousers? Excellent
Blahol waist pack? AmazingGood day out on the bike with friends
Partner had their first bonk ever and nearly swore at a kid blocking the trail, I explained to them eating peanuts wouldn’t do a lot at this point and they’d made the mistake of buying coke zero
I used this as the perfect opportunity to try one of the gels I had in my fanny pack
Neither of us had tried these before, had an apple one
I gotta say, fellas, ladies, non binary pals, the mouth feel of those gels?
The only way to describe it is “the exact texture of c*m”
Can see why someone might suck one down to pep them up on a ride eh?
Here are some pics

I'd put good money on that being a science in sport gel

Going against my best judgement here and got my old Dynamo set up for the x check
Need to get one of those sp connector doodahs, apparently clever mikes has them? Will ring tomorrow
Then slip some challenge slicks on, maybe mudguards after that? Who knows

best time of the year to upgrade to dynamo and mudguards

a few months ago I spent an entire morning searching london shops for an SP dynamo connector. no luck at essentially every shop between lewisham and camden until I finally found one at bikefix in bloomsbury

can go pick up the doodah from clever mikes tomorrow, @zincfingers your story had me sweating, especially when the lovely person on the phone was like "oooh im not sure, let me check.... dont do much dyno stuff..", was holding my breath till they returned
i've put the new wheel on and tyres in anticipation, threw the old rack on too, except now i can't put the dyno on until i find a p clamp or "nitto lamp mount for a rack".. maybe clever mikes will have one of these, if not it will be off to fresh tripe.
once this is all done it's probably fitting the bike gets mudguards, maybe next month, i'm morally against them but i keep reminding myself the bike i rode more than any bike was my kepler which had them.
once the super commuter is done, for the next tinker i'm thinking of putting some of those "velo orange hotbars" on the homer as i don't ride it with the big sweeps now i have the cross check, and if i'm going to the woods i'll take the cotic. hoping a bar like that makes it a viable bike to bosh around the city for a bit of fun.

got my little part from clever mikes, lovely shop, seem like nice people. had a nice grey packrat for sale.
they even sold me a little p clamp, it didn't work however i will need to buy the lamp mount, the light is just too bulbous and needs to be off set from the strut. will be next week most likely before it's all together.
the new tyres felt no different really, maybe the rolling was a bit better which is an improvement. although thanks to the new rim i have to faff around with the damn mini motos again to get them to stop squeeling, and check the rear wheel isn't rubbing off the brake track again. i will get it rebuilt on a box section one of these days.

Remember to take the pump on rides, so that you can constantly stop everyone while you adjust the pressure to 'dial it in'
Also, be amazed how all the other suspension owners in your riding group will suddenly feel the urge to check their air pressure and need to borrow your pump
