In the event of acquiring a mini neutrino,
But failing that, the aesthetic draw of rim brakes wins for me every time,
One could affront a bunch of mechanical reasons, philosophy of use, or ergonomics based justifications, but ultimately, for me, they just look nice.
The way the cables loop around the tubes, the visible mechanics at work of a brake contracting onto a wheel, the callipers themselves often being more interesting than the integrated , smoothness of a disc calliper. The bike as a whole comes together to create a utilitarian and bio mechanical statement through projection of its workings on display for all to see, often filling an onlooker with false confidence that they could work out how it does what it does from merely observation.
Function and utilitarianism to me is aesthetic. the irony of these bikes being outdated and annoying to fix, often requiring a higher upkeep compared modern options, it is not lost on me. In fact would one say it’s quite funny, verging on pity, that me, a person so frustrated by mechanical issues and fixing ones bike, is so puritan in their aesthetic values to their own discomfort. One must be careful to see such flagellation as virtuous or desirable, but it’s not the end of the world for one to find joy in doing things for pure aestheticism in a world so often driven by performance and competition

The only thing that kept me from buying this, was the low trail fork. And the bit dull paint job perhaps.

The $300 shipping fee and taxes got me way before any of the practical stuff

Actually rode my bike today
People were way to fast for me, But very nice, after being dropped once and towed to the Barbican, getting dropped the 2nd time I thought it was time to just head straight to the end destination. Enjoy the last of the light and great views of the bridges.
Even had some cheeky gravel on the canal path back south.
London really is a lovely city to cycle in
And as a side note, fixed is well and truly alive, some lovely bikes out and lively discussion, contrary to what some threads here would lead you to believe

Went to juice bike jumble, nice ride up and back, very chilled,
Got a lovely vegan gf vegan polenta drizzle cake and iced coffee from the odds I. Peckham before heading up, and thank you @Thrasher for the company
Ended up getting some cranks from the jumble, They're quite pretty just hope the tapers alright unlike the middleburns!
There were these ritchey road wheels there with some old ritchey hubs, think I want to build the bike using Americana esque cross stuff,
Old sram, ritchey, Paul, salsa etc
New bike is all but deposit confirmed and will be another tvm 😎

Thanks guys, bit of a weird length at 170 but as we know, these numbers are fake along with “q factor” and “maximum load limit”
Im trying to work out how to get a more than 1-1 gear ratio without using a dinner plate on the back, ideally no larger than 34t, the cranks are a tripple and 130 so I believe the smallest o can run on the front is 38?
Leaves me with 2x or 3x? Think you can just fit a 34 on the inner ring so really it’s 3x…
That’s pretty hesh right? 3x… 🥴.. seems pita?
I took a look at groupsets but honestly they all look the same? I’d like to use something with a clutch but not current gen, ideally ‘looks bad’, 8-9 speed, sram x5? Could acetone some alvio? Both should be fine with down tube shifters no?
People have been telling me for years sram front mechs suck (never had an issue with my rival one, also never rode the bike), is this right?
Any thoughts from the hive mind, ideally not “just buy 10speed deore 1x” or “you really don’t need that low of a gear on this sort of bike”

Microshift Advent 1x9
Oh wait a double and a clutch? Why?
Looks like you can cobble together a clutched 2x9 Microshift Advent flatbar group though.
You clearly haven't looked closely enough on the m00dboard
