Glad this is no longer a beater! (Not that I believed this would have ever been the correct wording, however you use the bike).
I quite like your burgundy version. Didn't @Dammit have a Serrota in that scheme?
Re graphics, the ones H Lloyds have done for me are now on file with them (thanks for reminding me of their existence, they've been really good). Of course the colors aren't right for you, but I would suspect they can swap for anything you like. Whatever font this is was chosen by my graphic designer friend who came up with the logo, which is why I didn't challenge it in the end, for the sake of "historical consistency". On my red version of the bike I felt that the letters, which didn't have an outline, looked a little bulky, not refined enough for a steel frame featuring nice details (yours has a lot of nice cut lugs, etc...). May be worth trying something on that basis? You could probably get rid of the shadow too, which probably isn't right either for you? And of course scale it down from it's current size as your tubing is the elegant type?
I can send you a PDF if you fancied Photoshoping away?

Thanks! Saw that but wasn't sure what tool I'd need to turn it... looks like a Shimano Hollowtech BB tool? If I can I'll find one with a hex nut on the back instead so I can a vice like this guy:

@Hulsroy Next time!

Yes Dammit did his Serotta with Mario just before I did my matching Roberts and I ruthlessly stole his colour! I always regretted not getting flam red like I had originally planned, the burgundy never looked great with the silver components... but now i think I'll probably go with burgundy again just to remind me of my old bikes (a lot of the frame details are also nods to past bikes).
Interesting to hear you found the original letters a little bulky after a while. I decided to go with them mainly because it saved me having to work on it myself. I'm having mine done in paint as opposed to decals so it seemed sensible to keep things simple in terms of outlines etc (Mario does the letter colour then uses decals to mask the correct shapes). And it's the logo above the door so it seemed like the closest thing Winston has to 'branding'!
I always found the decals on my Roberts stuck out of the lacquer a tiny bit too much.
Why does no one make the old-style transfers any more?!I think if I weren't getting them done in paint I'd join you with the above version - you've done a great job!

Yes it uses a standard Shimano Hollowtech II bottom bracket tool.
I did find out the hard way that engagement between the tool and the lockring isn't great because the "teeth" of the tool are quite shallow and if screwed on tightly the lockring sits lower than the threads/spline.
Instead of clamping the tool I used some threaded rod and washers to put light pressure onto the lockring tool and keep it from slipping. That worked pretty well.

yep they built a wheelset for me, great guys.

Disco! Bespoke Cycles had the tool.
But not for the axle. Maybe that's okay though, we'll see. If the anodiser man isn't happy about it, I'll either just polish them or paint them black.

I really like your project, it's going to be a great frame, logos are nice and the rotor crank is a killer too. Nevertheless I find that you color choices are sad/morose if I may say. Why not going for something more funky/vibrant?

ha ha, I guess they are aren't they?!
The black components look really nice with the burgundy... and I thought the rainbow sparkles might make the silver rims stick out less. I tried a couple of brighter options on photoshop but the combination of silver rims and black everything else is kind of tricky to make look good.
Either way, it's a winter bike so it'll be covered in shite within a week.

Saw rainbow sparkles in the flesh (so to speak) today, tough call, Mario says he can mix em with any colour, or he'll just pick a particular colour sparkle and mix that, the burgundy could look pretty good with red sparkles.
Good to put a face to a forum member. Cheers for the loan of the wheel. -

Might head over and check out the unicorn piss in real life. I always assumed the sparkles were part of the final lacquer layer.
My pleasure about the wheel, good to put a face to a name : )

This arrived yesterday... I've owned a fair few Pearls before but never from new. It makes the next job of cutting the shaft down to fit my short head tube feel all the more sacrilegious!
Mwah ha ha ha ha!

Wasn't it you that called it sacrilegious when I did this last time?!

I don't think it was me...
The Nitto stem I had for years (had bought the combo for the bars at the time) which I've installed on the Dawes is mega tall... Which gave me confidence I could ride that bike now I'm old (I.e. post 40)

Maybe it was someone else. It definitely feels slightly mad to attack the most overpriced stem in the world with a saw before I've even used it.
Plus I'm 41 now so maybe I should keep it tall ; )
