Pure narcissism. Just following government guidelines for weekly exercise really. Like everyone; so I can eat and drink what I want, I’ve got to a level now that I don’t want to lose and ideally I’d improve on but I’m not so sure about that. Don’t think I’ll ever beat my 2017 season for success. I’m getting older and 18 year old semi pros are taking the KOMs.
It’s fun finding something you’re alright at and seeing how good you can be, within reason.

I just love the feeling of flogging myself. Vomit point, blacking out, extreme hot or cold; I just love it.

You just lack commitment.

I love dad o’clock riding. I’m back and feeling good just after the kids get up and have the whole day left to spend time with them.

Got this the other night when I got home after riding with you.

to spend time with themsnooze on the sofa.I'm so keen to make dad o'clock work but I'm still really struggling with mornings, even with the new alarm clock.

I'll pm you instructions on how to get the most out of your Gro clock

Chasing you around Beckenham at 6 with 5 hours sleep is pretty committed.

I gave up on worrying about heart rate, I don't think I've been near 180 for so long. I do know that if I jump up off the sofa to answer the door I go dizzy.

I thought that was strictly a tall person problem.

Fuckin 'ell, I'm up to 191 sometimes.

I think it's to do with low rhr, low bp, and gravity.

This for me, too

It's like this whole other side of Essex passed you by.

I have a dumb turbo trainer. I don't have Zwift or Trainerroad or anything. On the few occasions I've used it I've found it boring as hell.
I'm a 55 year old man, I ride for fun. I don't bother training.
I can ride for 15 hours at 22 kph and get wherever I want (lap of the M25, L2P in 22 hours, L2Bruges in a day etc). Getting there a bit quicker might be nice but I CBA to put in the effort.

I always preferred this

I used to have a rule that if I hadn’t had a little puke and a bit of loss of bladder control at the finish line I wasn’t trying hard enough.
And then one day my family came to see me run and they were upset by daddy on the floor after racing. So I decided to not go as deep anymore.

I used to train to win, but was racing at least 4 times a week. Then I trained to win at my age level. Now I just potter around less often than I should and try to look stylish when someone a third of my age blasts past. Anno Domini.

Are you really saying it has nothing to do with winning hill climbs? :P

We’re you trained as a sniper? Beta blockers? Mine has got up to 194 a few times this year.
I was ahead of the pandemic curve with sanitising (and those were always running side-effects rather than cycling).
@amey when my son was younger, I had to ensure I stayed on my feet after a long and exhausting ride, and go almost immediately into an outdoor activity with him. Sitting was risky. Lying down was game over.
