Looks Mega David.

Worktop looks class +1 to twinkly at night with the lights.
Also think its important to say, many years ago I sold a Miele dishwasher to Dion Dublin.

that is lovely, although I agree i think how well it works will ultimately be the dependent on the colour of the cabinets

Beautiful project, looking forward to seeing the final product. Is the current ceiling light the final iteration? I would also propose some form of window blind to make it look less empty.

Yes. The light is the Hue Centris. It's asymmetric which serves to accept that there's no real symmetry on that wall (sink and window are not aligned).
It's a really nice light in the evening, but the black case looks odd by day. This is fine, a lot of this kitchen was trying to serve some Shaker spirit which isn't country estate kitchens, but just simple design that is honest and plain about what it is and how to use it... hence leaving the dishwasher exposed, etc... you see something, and it is what it appears to be.
The window only looks bad in the Winter, during the Summer it's fine. There's a huge tree (which you can see in the 2nd photo) and then another to the right, and once those are in leaf the window is glorious as it just brings that nature into the room and you don't see the houses opposite, a wall of green instead.
That said... yup, a blind will be added after things are finished. Yet to order that, it's the last thing that will go in.

Have looked again at the worktop... it's nice. Especially under the lights, the way it sparkles and so much colour leaps out. It's lush.

I'd spend hours looking at that

Sage green... the one from the Dulux Heritage range.
I do think it's going to work.
But who knows. If it doesn't, it's only a few hundred quid to get another painter in and do it another colour.

I'm sure it will and as you say if not you could go shade darker. Luxe.

So... what am I on?
Ah yes, day 17 of actual works, day 33 since works began... not doing badly, roughly on schedule.
The builders schedule has been spot on, not a day out despite the addition of ripping a hole in the wall and redoing the floor to make it perfect.
The kitchen schedule has also been spot on... but since it was communicated very late that's kinda cheating.
Today the tap is going on, the hob being wired up, last cabinets constructed, knobs going on (placements will be according to optimal long-term usage rather than symmetry and aesthetic, i.e. to balance load on hinges, drawer rails, etc).
At the end of today... the kitchen will be "done". For a definition of done that only excludes the painting of the cabinets which starts on Monday and should only take 3 days.

must feel good... the end of pot noodles is in sight :)
if you want to feel better, here's a picture of the kitchen we had for 18months (from date of moving in to date of completion of works, including kitchen)

Excellent countertop! I reckon once it gets some utensils in and that sheet of covering off the floor it won't seem quite so stark as the initial reaction and be even lovelier!

That's a better kitchen than I've made do with.
Mine was a wine fridge (donated via Olio a couple of days ago), and a kettle on top. My food selection was a big box of various pot noodles, crisp breads, apples, and a lot of bottles of Evian.
The end of pot noodles cannot come soon enough.
Though as of last weekend I have been occasionally roasting veg in the evening, but today is the last pot noodle for lunch. Everything back to normal come Monday (ignoring the paint smell).

That quartz is mega. What are you planning to have permanently out on the worktop?

Food mixer, espresso machine, coffee/tea kettle, and toaster.
I wasn't going for brass... but it turns out I have a lot of brass in this kitchen. The light, the knobs, the toaster even. And those things complement the gold / amber crystals visible in the granite.
