I don’t think the midge situation is going to be anything like as bad as you’re expecting.
It’s only out in the countryside when it becomes annoying and it’s only when you’re stationary!
I live beside the crow and tak and I don’t really remember the midges ever bothering me while out road riding. -

Wouldn't worry about it. Better to keep moving in certain situations but a good breeze out in the open n you can rest a while. You get the hang of it.
No issue on road rides really.
But by christ if you get a puncture on a gravel/mtb ride in the wrong place you had better practice your tube change while sprinting game. I find a large figure 8 is optimal.

Riding etape loch ness again, it's at the end of the month, so will be heading out for as many rides as I can manage between work and kids (and edinburgh derbies), if anyone fancies a spin.
Shorter midweek and definitely a couple of 90-100km weekenders as well.

Just recently moved to glasgow - I'd be down for a ride (only have my gravel bike) but happy to do some road routes etc
Was also thinking to start accred 1 at the velodrome too in the next week or two

nah, midges are mostly fine around central belt. Brutal further north, though.
not an issue whatsoever ime. maybe if you stop at the side of the road - near water - at dawn or dusk - in the high summer months... can't say I've had any issue with them though. do sometimes have issues with flies/flying ants, when cycling in lanes during summer months but no more than you'd expect in other parts of the country, I'd venture
