I’ve not read this yet but it looks interesting. Colin Kaepernick is behind it.
*We published this book in response to the sweeping attacks on Black Studies and Black history across the country. I was honored to join scholars Robin D. G. Kelley (UCLA) and Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor (Princeton) as one of the editors on this project. The book itself features excerpts from 45+ essential readings in Black Studies plus 6 original essays. Earlier this week, we released OUR HISTORY HAS ALWAYS BEEN CONTRABAND: IN DEFENSE OF BLACK STUDIES as a FREE e-book that can be downloaded here.*

I asked my school which is 75% black boys what they were doing for windrush 75and got no response from SLT 🤷🏿♂️.
That's why the students don't respond to them. they know subconsciously they don't care.

That looks good, on a similar tip, St Paul's carnival is back on in Bristol this Saturday. Usually a great day if you are in the area.

ffs Sun Ra was discovering that shit like 90 years ago. It is reckoned that Jazz and its ancestral roots from Africa go back to the beginning of human existence with links to the cosmos.
Nobody ever writes about that shit, lol

Interesting story. Sun Ra was ahead of his time, but good luck sitting through a full listening of cosmic tones for mental therapy!

What do you make of it? I think the jury’s out.

Bob lived through such turbulent times, I will see this when it comes out, regardless. I’m never swayed by juries or public opinion.
Seeing Get Up Stand Up last year on stage was a reminder that Bob had many qualities, and faults too.

When I said the jury I’m really referring to me, I hope I’m not disappointed. The 2012 Marley film will be hard to beat.
If you’re a reader then I highly recommend A Brief History of Seven Killings.

Dear people, after 40 years old, changes in how you poo, (the major one not feeling finished/empty) nag to get a colonoscopy. Do not be fobbed off with it's hemaroids.
Nothing to be ashamed about, especially as polyps dealt with during the colonoscopy mean non invasive surgery. Also beware of the higher risk of diabetes too. Earlier caught less issues of small vessel damage, damaged eyes and depression issues. The bonus is free prescriptions!

Am in for the ride mainly for the food.
Also immigration is brilliant for improving our collective diet.

Not to lessen the point, we are all from Africa so makes perfect sense that music has roots there.

Simon Woolley, what a wonderful and generous man, despite hard early years.

Shared this in the Tweed Run marshals group, approaching 20% of which is Afro Carribean these days. One's already signed up, another 2 or 3 incoming.
What a great story

@Skülly we were discussing the merits for having Caribbean produce and cuisine on our door step(s) yesterday and how fortunate we are to live in a diverse city like London
Methinks we should have a Caribbean themed mash up ride, with Irish ☘️ Moss, Guinness Punch, because you know I have a sweet tooth. I want to know where the best fish cakes, fried sweet potato pakoras, jackfruit curry is in London. I already know where the best Oxtail and butter bean stew is 🤤 This ride will need a few tunes / speaker maybe @ian(conker) cargo bike
And a history tour of West Indian Food culture around London, need volunteers from the forum to bring collective knowledge and support local business on the ride.
