Apart from the it's not been claimed that she's actually done anything illegal or against the rules.

Am I being overly harsh in wondering whether Simon Case and his mates may not be keen on a former civil servant now having too much juice and not knowing her place?
Especially when some say that said former civil servant allegedly thinks he's a massive fucking cunt.

Fwiw Case allegedly buys his own clothes despite his pay bracket only being £200,00-£204,999.
I wonder if he'll have a better pension than both Sue and Starmer. Assuming he says a bit longer obvs.

She was permanent secretary before… there’s not a much loftier place in the civil service
Arguably she’s not more senior than she was, she’s just in a different role -

Could be him, but more likely to be McSweeney I'd say. It's a nest of vipers.

Maybe, the right wing of the Labour party are just crap at politics?

Not a new article but lots on the feuds. ****https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/politics/article/2024/aug/16/no-10-power-struggle-rumours-sue-gray-morgan-mcsweeney
I liked this quote.
“Her big thing is that we need experience over politics in government. But eventually, we may realise the politics is just as valuable; when it comes to the end of this year and we’ve got to argue why the prisons are still full, Thames Water is at the brink of going bust, and loads of councils are going bankrupt. We’ll need political minds in government then, not just people who have experience.”
As much as I want them to focus on goverment and not politics, you still need to be able to sell. Sunak is a very recent eg of how quickly good will is lost by shit politics.

Sunak wasn't good at politics or government.

Tories being so disastrous probably plays into this. Easy to get complacent when the opposition is soooo bad.

BBC Political Editor that revealed Sue Gray salary is on 100k more than her according to his latest article 🤣
-
• #5538
Gray ran a pub in border country at the height of the troubles with her C&W singing partner.
HinterlandRe your comment on Dom
-
• #5539
Yep, and Kuenssberg was on twice the PM’s etc
And Sue Gray could likely earn significantly more if she was in the private sector etc
-
• #5540
How are people still missing the point?
-
• #5541
I'm not convinced there is a point. It's just Westminster bubble shitstirring.
-
• #5542
Yeah this.
-
• #5543
But all your quotes on the last page related to her enemies bitching about her pay.
Maybe I'm knackered, but I think you're being a lot more subtle than you realise.
-

Honestly just thought his report was funny, but didn't know how best to bring it to the thread. It's all about how important it is that we know her exact salary, but he also (probably has to) disclose his and just provides a link rather than list the figure and you have to scroll for ages to get to his figure that's in fact more anyway.

I think since Brexit and the psychodrama of the Tories, people have forgotten what a good political operation looks like. Normally, it is a sign of chaos and dysfunction if spads are taking off-the-record potshots at the PM's chief of staff. The fact that this is already happening a couple of months after a landslide victory when Starmer and his team should be at the peak of their political authority is alarming.
That is the story. The sub-plot is that Sue Gray was warned this would be a story, but was either too greedy for an additional £3k, or too politically unaware to realise the terrible optics, or both, that she pressed ahead.
Since Cummings has been mentioned, it is worth noting that he mandated that all spads and comms people in government could not be paid more than £100k.
Obviously all these people could earn more in the private sector, but as Starmer keeps telling us, it should be about public service.

Or, someone just made up the fact that she was warned in that quote (as according to some spokesperson). We have no way of knowing

treat boy, again, fails to percieve the idea of being unable to afford the football or paying for his own tickets. is a reflection of how he see's the state tho "we cant afford things and there is all these kind companies offering to do it out of the kindness of their hearts, it's the best of both worlds". doesn't stand in good stead when it's not him going to the footy but who he gives a health contract.

Obviously he exempted himself from that as he was earning £140,000-£144,999 in 2020.
Adjust that for inflation and you're in the region of what Gray is earning now.

Isn’t it wonderful to know that at least some wages are adjusted for inflation
Plot twist: It is revealed she sells Pagers as a side hustle.
